Amusing moment on Breakfast this morning just before 0900. The last main item was a piece on Dog Goggles (or Doggles!) where a they had guest with a couple of Pug dogs on the sofa to demonstrate that dogs eyes could need protecting from the sun and other harmful objects (i think, didn't see the introduction) Anyway, at the start of the interview Dermot and Natasha were joking with the guest as the item was very light hearted, when the guest quipped “it must be a very slow news day for you to have an item on Dog Goggles!” Natasha didn’t know where to look, looked over to Dermot who after slight hesitation said “I couldn’t agree with you more!” Natasha then said sarcastically to the guest “do you want to leave right now?!”

LOL! I saw that, 'twas very funny. I take it, it is the Editor who decides the format of the programme. Does anyone know how long Richard Porter has been editor?
Does the editor decide on studio designs, or is it decides by Roger Mosey or Richard Sambrook?

Richard Porter has been the editor for quite a while now - the previous Editor, Andrew Thompson, moved to BBC Sport a little while after the programme relaunched as Breakfast (and became a simulcast on BBC News 24 as well as BBC One)
The set design will be decided by a combination of the programme editor, the set designer, a programme director, and news management (there are people who deal specifically with presentation issues, though senior editorial figures will also have input)
The weights of various viewpoints may differ depending upon the programme and the channel - directors may have a greater say on some programmes than others for example.
To be technically accurate - the STUDIO design was kind of fixed when they were built... In the case of the BBC studios at TVC this was during the '60s... (Galleries of course change more frequently - but some things in the studios are still original)
I wish Breakfast would set a completely new set. The current set looks dated and inmy opinion is isn't warming like the previous set(s). Why can't Natasha and Dermot have a proper desk with chairs aswell as the "soft" set??
Also does anyone know why Breakfast only used credits for one week? I thought there look professional!

Thanks for that. What input does the director have in the programme - do they ensure that it all rums smoothly?
I feel that Richard Porter, has slowly made Breakfast more downmarket, and its news, less newsy, if you know what i mean.
I agree with South Today, that there should be a propper news desk, but i actually quite like the current design.
At some point yesterday evening - I'm not sure exactly what time as I was kind of dozing on the sofa, there was an extremely long countdown - it could well have been the full 90 seconds. Sounded quite nice in its entirety actually.
Some questions, i'm sure someone will be able to answer.
When Breakfast News relaunched in May/June 1997, who was the other female presenter. I think it was Andrew Harvey, Justin Webb, Sally Magnnuson - but who was the other?
When did Liz Maclean present Breakfast News - and was she any good? Also when Sarah COburn was a presenter, did she still do the business news, or did she stop doing it.
One final question. When did Juliet Morris present from, and to. Did she replace Sally while she was on maternity leave for the
x
th time. And did Sally present much in the virtual studio?

I thought Sophie Raworth was a main presenter of Breakfast News when it relaunched in 1997 - along with Jeremy Bowen, or did they come along later?

No, no. The original mid-90's team were still around when it relaunced in 97. They were gradually phased-out. Raworth and Bowen came when it relanuched in 2000, as Breakfast.
That's another question, when did Jeremy do his stint on BN?
EDIT -Sorry no, Sophie came in July 97, then Jeremy did a stint when it was still called BN, before joining permanently in 2000

No, Sophie did join Breakfast News in 1997 as a main anchor, it even says so on her BBC News profile.
Did anybody see News 24 at 6.55pm? The bantering going on between Matthew and Jane was so hilarious? Did anyone else see it?
During the bantering, Jane said that she's going on holidays for two weeks. Whose gonna be presenting with Matthew for two weeks then from tomorrow? Will it be Kate Silverton again???
