Either that or have the mini location thingy under the live graphic. The current setup is not very good.

The trouble with that, is the location text would still be very hard to read, and in that nasty squashed font for it to fit in the box.

Another thing I don't like about the current location box, is the way it's just stuck on top of the tower, which looks messy. One of the aspects of the new graphics that I thought was the best was the way that everything fitted together perfectly, but with this set up, that harmony between the tower and aston is ruined.

Couldn't agree more. The previous layout might have had its faults, but this is hardly an improvement.

News 24 nice and up to date today. They put up the information about the fact Rachel Whitear's body is to be exhumed and the guy saying "full coverage of the press conference live from Hereford here on BBC News 24 when it gets underway". Errr, are none of them watching Sky/ITVNC?? The press conference started ages ago and both channels have been covering it for a while.

Ah, they've just gone to it and caught the end of the Q&A session. Now that's timing!

I'm not keen on the tracking in use this morning, it always seems half finished before it cuts back to the presenter.

The last 1 O'clock news - of the current BBC News approach, has just finished broadcasting. I quite liked them titles. Or well, only the 6/10 and all the weekend bulletins to go then.

Thank you. Now here's an early birthday present: a bag full of full stops to generally sprinkle round your writing.

EDIT: okay, that post made more sense when you saw the gobbledygook adam had originally posted...

Lol. Just watched the last 1 O'clock news, well last of the current BBC News approach, anyhoot, after reading the headline cut out to BBC Midland today, for there 15min, anyway, reports passed, then turned to a reporter, however minor difference: - first She was described as a He on the strap line, then the image started to break up, then cut back to the newsreader, looking at piece of paper, not realising shes on, then again cuts back to the reporter, who also does the weather report, then as she was speaking about Valentines Day, the screen usually splits to allow for the weather map, on one side and the presenter on the other, however the map, seems to carry on, over the presenter for a while, before returning.

Just reading thru the 'About BBC News' guide to the News Centre. A few things I've picked up...

Quote:
More than 100 hours of live news broadcasting comes from here each day.

More than 100? Can't see that?

News 24 = 21 hours a day (Breakfast doesn't come from the News Centre and isn't really 'live news broadcasting')
World = ? hours a day - no more than 12 is there? Just the on the hour half hour bulletins.
1/6/10 = 1½ hours
Five Live = ? hours a day - bulletins at the top and bottom of the hour, plus the odd programme. Certainly not 24 hours.
Radio 4 = about 5 hours plus bulletins
Anything else?

Quote:
The channel's fresh look was unveiled on December 8th, 2003 - and it incorporates a separate presentation area for breaking news, video screens for instant analysis of the big stories and a digital newsroom - visible behind the presenters - to make sure BBC correspondents can get on air fast with the latest information.

Separate breaking news area - where's that? They usually do this from the main desk!

All Radio Five programmes come from the News Centre.Even taped programmes are played out from there.

And they probably include Breakfast and newsnight because they have their offices in the News Centre so the programmes do originate there.

Most of Five Live comes from the News Centre, apart from weekend late nights which come from Birmingham.

Still doesn't add up to 100 hours. Only just 50! They said LIVE NEWS broadcasting. Five Live covers a lot of sport - this would knock down their hours to about 20. I count this to be about 59 hours.
