Great to see Natasha reading this weekend's BBC ONE news. I personally think it'll be her who stands in for Sian when she does take a day off from the Six.

Yes, Natasha really does excell when doing these bulletins. To be honest I prefer Natasha and Jane doing a 'straight' bulletin rather than Sian - she suits Breakfast much better.

Also good to see Tim Wilcox on Brekkie this morning. I quite like him - seems very natural.

Not too sure if anyone else has seen this, but whilst viewing BBC NEWS via the Broadband console, Olympic news is not being shown due to copyright restrictions??? Can anyone ponder a guess at to why these reports cant be shown??? I mean, if the BBC own the rights to show the olympics then surely they can show it online??? You might also like to know that 2 mins of the old World Breakfiller can be heard in place of Olympic news.

It's the same with Radio 1... there's currently a notice informing listeners that there could be gaps in Listen Again programmes where there is Olympic coverage.

I presume one of the rights restrictions is that coverage on the internet can only be streamed live and not downloadable.

I think the reason is that the BBC Olympics broadband service is only allowed to stream to UK viewers (as detected by IP address - and/or broadband provider?) - as the BBC only have UK streaming rights.

The BBC One bulletins are universally available throughout the world via the internet - so the BBC have to blank Olympics pictures via this route to avoid non-UK viewers seeing Olympics pix that the Beeb don't have the rights for.

Thanks to all participants in this thread. To improve the navigation for all visitors, especially those who do not regularly trawl the generic threads, they (including this thread) are being closed.

Recent discussions can be continued in dedicated threads in the new In the News forum. Hopefully the footer information on that page will make it a little clearer about what content should appear where.

While some may be annoyed / wound up / incensed by the locking of established threads and at other members’ initial confusion once it has settled down, the splitting of main presentation and news should be a benefit to all.

After all, the more people who see your thread, the more likely they are to participate. Any comments would be welcome in the Announcement thread at the top of the main forum.

Thanks, Asa
