On the live thing they just did, they had Sky News on display in full screen on one of the plasma screens in newsroom.

Why do they do this? Confused

Because it's a source. Might be a rival source, but it's still a source. Presumably someone in the newsroom was keeping tabs on Sky News.

I can assure you that Sky News is not treated as a reliable source. However you have to monitor your main rivals. It's why there is a feed of Sky news in the News24 Gallery, CNN in the World one and GMTV in the Breakfast one

Just wondering if someone could please develop more on the extent of the damage done to these areas... will these require repair work, thus more moving?
Personally I favour the idea of Newsnight from the CBBC studio. Should make the Iraq argumement one hellva lot more interesting with green bugs flying around and the "BugSplat" aston. Sorry im dreaming again

Dare I say that Newsnight actually looks better in a different studio....

plus its nice to see they managed to drag the desk over!

Indeed it looks rather good in that studio doesn't it.

I was hoping they wouldn't get the desk up and they'd use the fab plasma and sofas combo. Can't have it all I suppose Sad

What lies in wait for Breakfast. Will they bring the Sofa into the temp newsnight studio. I wonder how many will have their capture cards ready at 6am.

One thing you can't knock the BBC for... they have more than their fair share of drama when it comes to bombs, fires, floods, invasions and ties. And they always seem to manage the studio juggling - often making the presentation look as good, if not better!

Nice to slip in the explanation as well even with the dramatic breaking news.

Plus great use of the big screens for interviews! That's something they can't do nearly as well in their usual studio.

Message to the Newsnight editor: Get rid of the current studio and give it a BBC Three News style make over

any idea why Newsnight is in a differnt studio, is it intentional or just temporary?

Indeed. I noticed the other day that News 24 was on a small monitor in the Sky newsroom when they were doing an interview. I suppose the dilemma is whether to run a story simply because your rivals are, or to find out more yourself first.

Have you not read the past five pages ?! The Newsnight/Breakfast/Newsround studio is flooded.
