Isn't it sort of in the middle of a large TV Centre. Or are other studios effected as well. Why is no-where else effected just BBC TVC? The air con spring a leak?

How "flooded" is it, obviously even a little bit would mean the studio is out of use, lights, cameras, power, water not a good mix. But a "flash flood?" Or is it just a puddle that’s slightly too big to mop up?

Gosh thats a lot of questions...

Edit, Got another one... When did it happen? Breakfast was fine this morning afaik.

I spose that NewsNight could use The World set just changing the images to the ones on the NewsNight screens, can also just change the lighting to purple at 10.30 and then BBC World could use the National Newsroom with World Newsroom on the projectors and then return to its regular home at midnight. Another question to whoever can answer, depending on the stage of construction, will the NewsNight set have been damaged or any of the other sets that may have been in the studio.

The National set is just as, if not more, versatile. If they choose to, it could look rather Newsnight-esque with the lit walls and projection screen. It would take far less effort and cause less inconvenience than moving World out and Newsnight in.

It's not quite as easy to switch round studios as you imagine. For example all of Worlds video sources are only available in the World Studio. To reroute them elsewhere would require a lot of effort. There are weeks of planning and many many meetings which take place before a joint weekend happens

The floods are affecting a number of studio's and I understand it is quite serious in Newsnight's one. Luckily there is a news studio that isn't on the ground floor that Newsnight can use ... will of course look different. Also imagine trying to do lots of guests on the World set - that wouldn't work would it.

So could we see Dermot and Natasha in the N24 studio tomorrow? They haven't presented in the new set yet have they?

Or will it be the nationals or world even?

I would have thought News 24 could be an easier replacement. Moira could do the news from the summary area, and Natasha & Dermot could present from the desk.

As Nicky said, I'd count BBC World out - you can hardly get a hamster as a guest on that set!

Plus there's no reason to involve poor old World! It can't easily be moved, isn't particularly convenient and isn't versatile enough - and it's minding its own business...!

All eyes on Newsnight tonight then. Would be nice to see it presented from a caravan in the car park Wink

JT said Sky News had also sprung a leak this afternoon. I guess not in the studio or main newsroom area though.

Indeed, although they seem to be the poor relations - they always get moved about when another programme is having problems, and they obviously don't get much investment given the newsroom has remained exactly the same since Adam was a lad, while other programmes have had umpteen facelifts in the same period of time!

Is anyone else aware that a large chunk of West London has been cordoned off by the Police tonight. Chaos where I am
