Yes he's the one with the dodgy glasses, but I assume you meant ITV rather than News 24!

Is it Nick Robinson with the dodgy glasses who left the BBC for News 24? I'd quite like to see him back actually.

Marr can't step down - he's the best {and wittiest } correspondent they have got. Although if he does have to step down Nick Robinson would probably be a good choice. I suppose John Ray may then become ITV's political editor considering he is currently chief political correspondent. But then again Mark Mardell is the BBC's and there is no mention of him becoming editor - I don't really like him, he always tries to copy Andrew Marr.

Isn't Robinson a bit too blue for the Beeb editor's position?
I know there were doubts about Marr's ability to be independent, with his history in left wing newspapers, but to that extent he has done a good job.
Robinson often seems to let his right wing attitudes stray into reports - especially ones involving Europe. The other day a report of his included him walking up to (an obviously Eurosceptic) market trader and asking for things in ounces...
NR: "Can I have an ounce of this?"
Trader: "don't sell in ounces?"
NR: You don't sell in ounces?
T: Not allowed
NR: (disapproving tone) you're not allowed
NR: well how about a pound of these
(repeat previous)
NR: Any straight bananas?
T: No straight bananas?
NR: You CAN'T sell straight bananas?!
It was designed to be entirely pointless, a series of rhetorical questions that just had the right wing audience huffing and puffing until the message was got across. Much more emotive than saying "market traders, for instance, are no longer allowed to sell in pounds an ounces".
And the straight bananas thing is a load of crap. It's totally untrue, and i'd have expected Robinson to know that. It was a load of rubbish kicked up by the Sun.
Leave him on ITV. Where nobody watches.

Don't be silly - he is currently Political Editor, and that position [N24 Chief Political Editor] is LOWER than BBC News Chief Political Correspondant, which is lower than editor!!!

Andrew Marr came to the BBC with an aim of making political coverage more accessible and a bit less 'stuffy' after an era where the main corresponents were the likes of Robin Oakley (who was of course Political Editor) and John Pienaar.
I certainly think the coverage is more accessible, but wouldn't like to say that more people are interested in Politics now as frankly I don't know. One thing's for sure though, there can't have been many BBC or ITV Political editors who, when asked on the likelihood of something happening (can't remember what it was now), reply '...well that's about as likely as Saddam shaving off his moustache and announcing that he's gay'.

And further to that, Nick Robinson went to ITV News from being News 24's Chief Political Correspondent! It would be rather embarrassing to move back to his old job!
