This is really hard to comprehend...or maybe I never quite got it straight in the first place but why is it taking so long to change the set?

Newsnight, BBC1 News, and BBC World all managed to have their sets re-done quickly. After all, it's more like an interior decorating job than it is a major industrial engineering project.

Either there's something I dont appreciate about the scope of what's going on, or what's going on isnt that spectacular and were in for a disappointment.

I know all the Beeb-workers on here are either mum or claim ignorance, but you'd think a giant hole in the wall down at TVC would be noticeable? What's the deal with all this?

According to what has been said before here, it's taken so long because they're installing a proper studio-quality air conditioning system rather than the office-quality one they had before.

What's known so far

Definetly Confirmed
-- New Set
-- New Music

Likely
-- New Titles
-- New Astons/Graphics

As I said somewhere above, I heard that the relaunch date may have slipped into December, does anybody else have something more concrete?

I must say, I don't like the sound of that if it is true. You can't possibly have a "relaunch" unless you change everything, and to say that new titles and graphics are only "likely" doesn't fill me with confidence.

I hope this isn't another bodged partial relaunch.

The re-launch is being treated with soem degree of secrecy, and so dont expect total confirmation for all aspects of the New Look...

Oh do be quiet.

As much as I hate the BBC with a passion, it is so very boring to hear you constantly whinging about it at every opportunity, not showing even remote degrees of fairness in your postings.

The "major industrial engineering project" comes closer to things than "interior redecorating job". Were it just a case of taking out the old set and assembling the new one, thus achieving a similar looking design to the previous incarnation, it could've been done in a weekend; funnily enough, there's a little more to it than that.

You will find out why it has taken so long when you actually see it. In the mean time, will you take your seemingly interminable moaning somewhere else.

It's been said in this thread before that it isn't just a new set being built, the air condtioning system is being overhauled, the gallery is having maintainence and upgrade work done on it, and they are using the oppourtunity to do some work on the newsroom.

You know real24insider, I should imagine that most BBC News 24 staff would have at least a basic grasp of spelling and grammar, which is something that clearly escapes you.

You're not the first person to do this, and I shouldn't imagine you'd be the last, but it seems terribly sad to me. The relaunch is a secret, and we're not going to know about it until the day it goes live.

Oh and another thing, calling yourself "real24insider" is a slight giveaway that you might not be quite who you say you are.

EDIT - I've just looked at the link, and real24insider, if you're going to post rubbish then at least post original/convincing rubbish.

I don't really know why you bother. You've wasted your time to accomplish what exactly? Dent the forum's reputation? It is blatantly obvious that you don't work for the BBC, as anyone who did would not leak out anything specific to do with a relaunch - I think you'll find they want to keep their jobs Wink
