Don't they have that desktop scroller thing? I might just be going senile in my grand old age, lol.

Yes, they have a ticker, but that's been around for years. They haven't modified it to actually alert you with breaking news like the Sky one does.

I also sympathize with Natasha, and I do hope she will be back on our screens soon. As has been said previously I do not condone what she has done, but for alot of viewers knowing why she is off, it must be very distressing for her.

Oh for god's sake, she was the one who cheated - she's brought it on herself! People are talking like she's had a family beravement or something.

You cannot say that, you do not know the circumstances of the situation, nor do I. But who is to say that her boyfriend has not done the same thing, or something has happened in their relationship.

Does anyone know whether the BBC have plans to release a Sky News downloadable news alert devise? I know the BBC has the ticker of the latest headlines but I like how Sky's is invisible and wooshes onto your screen with any breaking news.

I could maybe throw one together taking advantage of their XML feed.

If you could that would be excellent.

Slightly off topic, but is it true that BBC Weather are changing their graphics this autumn, is it possible that this will happen along with the new lokk BBC News, you know like they did with Breakfast and wether in october 2000.

Just a thought.

I think I recall their plan for changing the weather graphics being called project "storm"

not sure about anything else about it though

Well you don't know the circumstances either, so why you're taking that concerned granny line I don't know. Anyway, it says she was caught. If it was a 'normal' person, i doubt you would taking that point of view. Like I said, it's not like somebody died.

I will be very surprised if they do. The BBC has the best weather graphics in my opinion. (ITV's are too basic and Sky's are over done). I thought it cost a lot of money when they were changed in september 2000.

I know lots of "normal" level headed respectful people who have made out-of-character mistakes in the past. Don't say you haven't for one second cos we just won't believe you!

I did hear something about a change to "the way in which the weather is presented", but I seriously doubt that they will change the graphic set significantly - they are the only ones that I understand, and are basically unchanged since the BBC started broadcasting weather forecasts on television (although of course maps and things have been updated). The ITV ones are far too fiddly - you can't tell whether the raindrops are raindrops or sunrays!

I've noticed that all the weather forecasts tonight have been recorded - they've been playing the same Michael Fish one again and again. Has this always been the way (and I've just never noticed) or is there a 'deep and meaningful' reason for this?
