Err - building work happens at TV Centre everyday - often near broadcast areas. Of course workmen can be made to wait if it is a broadcast requirement to have silence. ISTR that in BBC folklore there was a "Permission to stop knocking" form that allowed you to instruct workmen to stop making a noise!
Given that Sport 24 is only on air for a few minutes every hour, and only during the 0900-2300 period (if the 0000 bully is still pre-recorded) - I'm sure the workmen would be quite grateful for a tea/loo break...

Just had a thought. At the moment BBC Sport on News 24 is still coming from its usual home in the news centre. When they start building the new set (they may have already started) will the sports studio have to be vacated to be revamped as well or are they just going to be using the main news set for sport updates, or will they just do a makeover on the final weekend for the sports studio. Im just intriuged because surely if they are building a new set there would be a certain amount of noise i.e. banging of hammers or do they stop during sport updates (cant see workmen wanting to work around things like that).

I'm just a little curious as to what kind of builders the BBC employs. Are they like the builders I know of that wolfwhistle at good looking young ladies who walk passed and shout lurid comments? If so, then do they shout stuff at the presenters of BBC Sports News and other "fit but probably lesbian" employees of the BBC?

Got me a capture in the WBR break...

The box and text are higher up the screen than usual. Normally you'd get what I call "clock-crash" where the clock covers part of either the box (BBC One trails) or the text (BBC Two or News 24 trails).

I've just seen an unusual font used on a trail for Talking Movies...

About time they used that colour box. BBCi Whats On has been using that box since the N24 listings changed.
As for the ad itself, is Talking Movies not produced in 4:3 and the ads are cropped to fit, I've noticed on the Talking Movies ads that the box and text on them are always in the wrong place in regards to other ads.
However it could be that it's been moved up to makeway for a permenant ticker...

Havent Talking Movies adverts always been different from the other adverts with the box either being squashed into the bottom left or having it miles up from where is should be.
Cant remember the last time I saw a Talking Movies ad that loked like the rest of News24's adverts!

The Talking Movies trailer also has a different font as well, not Gil Sans as usual.

So, that's four different versions of the box, then - the big 24, BBC News 24 in two different sizes, and now this different colour box. Wheras every other BBC channel manages to stick with the same bloody box (apart from regional differences, but that's a different story - the large EMT box is so bloody stupid...)
Incidentally, anyone see N24 at 9:00am today? Very dodgy piccy quality; I wonder what was up. But I'm impressed with the tweaks to the CSO - it looks rather good now, in all fairness.

Really that clock is just not meant to be, it's now had it's sides, top & bottom chopped off.
Incidently as I typed that it still said 9.59 then flicked to 10.01 now it's just vanished altogether. lol

Hmmm - camera problems by the looks of it! The picture broke up terribly at one point!

err...how is it different coloured, it's just a darker shade of red. perhaps it's the person's capture card. it's more likely that talking movies trailers are made really rubbishly and so you get this. the trailer itself is in 14:9 / 4:3, not widescreen, perhaps it is made in new york directly!
at the end of the day, who cares - does it matter?
As Square Eyes had said in the Sky News Thread...
It's this kind of thing that's making this place boring now. Ok, if it's a major breakdown mention it, but do we really have to have people posting everytime there is a sound problem on a channel for a period of about 2 minutes ?
It's not even worth mentioning.
