They would be quite stupid not to make some trailers for advertising the relaunch. It would allow them to really hype it up and start using some taglines for the channel like BBC World do. It would likely attract new viewers to the channel.

I don't think it would at all.
I think people over-estimate how aware "normal" people are of studios and graphics here sometimes.

If it is a major revamp, then it's more then just a studio and graphics change, we are talking about the channel itself.

Nah ah I think your wrong here.

If the channel did do some self promotion about a new look then I'm sure a lot of people would at least flick over to see what all the fuss is about and be 'aware' that things have changed.

I mean when Breakfast changed - viewers noticed. When the 1, 6, 10 changed they had those ads about it changing and people did notice.

Taking it away from N24 for a second. When Sky News changed... people noticed. Mr 'Boo' Rolling Eyes I think your underestimating what people do and don't notice. A mere change in the aston wouldn't generally be noticed. But a change in music, titles, and studio is a whole new kettle of fish.

And to answer another question - yes the Business has been coming from the LSE since 24 moved to TC10 - and they have dropped the money minute at 27 mins past - just a full business update at xx.42 from the LSE.

It's not always live though is it?

Yes its is.....

Creative Services are on the case I believe.. so I would say that its a resounding yes to that remark. Very Happy

We need to go back to the preface programme of 1997 and get the presenters on top of TVC in big, bright comfy chairs talking about why N24 is (going to be) good! They'd be mad not to promote it in some way...

Shame it was all downhill from George Alagiah sitting on a big colourful chair on TVC! Laughing

When they changed from the flags to the corp there was no mention of it apart from a section on BBC News Online on the day it relaunched. Then again News 24 has moved along since then and certainly has more veiwers than i did then.

Yes, I think there will be a trailer, and I think it's important that they get it right.

I think they need to get all the presenters being lowered into the new studio on ropes from the ceiling. Jane Hill could be lowered on to the desk, Mawhinney could be dropped on the carpet and Wollydoodah could just be lowered straight into the bin. Then Chris Eakin, Philip Hayton and Peter Sissons could emerge through the floor to stand in front of the desk, arms crossed, looking threatening.

Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams could then appear in best evening wear, holding a sign saying how great the new News 24 is going to be while bickering about whether they like the new studio or not.

Perfect. Perfect I tell you. And not at all tacky (!!)

In some ways you are correct - perhaps some ads might make some people turn over - but seriously, apart from the people here - is anyone going to give a **** just because it's all a bit more shiny than it was before?

No is the answer to that, quite frankly.

Plus, News 24 has had more cross-promotion than probably any other news channel in history and that hasn't done it much good.
