Clock's gone walkies on News 24 again...

Someone give Columbus a kickin'. Why does stuff like this happen, why do they let it happen? You don't see the SKYNEWS clock go AWOL, the FNC clock go walkies (and they tell 4 different time zones)... what happenin?

The N24 clock is taken off for promo breaks and sometimes the director forgets to put it back on (I would imagine at the moment being in a different studio it's even more complicated). I have seen Sky without a clock before. And the Sky News gallery don't have to play in the ad breaks so they don't have the same risk of forgetting to put it back on.

The Sky clock is put on by TX (ie: Pres) and sometimes they do forget. I guess thats another argument for having a TX area.... but hey this will all be fixed in the new world of the new 24..... Wink

You mean N24 will have a presentation unit? Confused

errr .. no - but the clock will be controlled by a purpose built piece of software to control it - not the lash up it is at the moment!

And to answer another question - yes the Business has been coming from the LSE since 24 moved to TC10 - and they have dropped the money minute at 27 mins past - just a full business update at xx.42 from the LSE.

Yes the purpose built kit sounds interesting - what I've heard about it. I think this thread will get very very long after day one of the re-launch Laughing

If memory serves me correct someone is bound to start an 'Official' thread the day before - if not the weekend before.

Nice to know the forum hasn't changed.

There was some chit chat about that but it was decided to keep just one rediculously oversized thread instead of having two, lol.

Confused Not changed in what way?

I think the best thing will be to have a thread created on the morning of the relaunch dedicated purely to reaction. The existing one can then by closed and classed as being dedicated to rumours, multiple usernames and hopes... !

Cheers, Asa

In the way that speculatory BBC News 24 thread last an age! They always did!

Then, of course, their successors will be full of "Oh, I don't like that!" or "I preferred it the old way". (Remembers fondly the new graphics that were fitted and the backlash they got!)

I thought of an idea Idea

How about the business coming from the business unit(the biz presenter can be in TC10 but with the CSO Business Unit shot), I think it might look good, as the sport comes from it's own set, and the Business would have it's own set(well CSO!)

I hope NickyS can give us something on this.. and I know that everything is always top secret with BBC News24, however I dont htink this is giving secrets away....

... will we get anything from the BBC in the form of publicity (sort of like when Breakfast News changed into BBC Breakfast a few years back), a date of the relaunch (we are guessing at the moment I believe) or will the relaunch just happen one day unannounced? ie will the BBC make a big deal of the relaunch before we see it on screen?

Yes I think the BBC will.
