lol. I think if they did plonk themselves right in the centre of a busy newsroom, then they should follow BBC World with the camera setup - zoomed in quite tightly, so that the background is slightly blurred - that way, you can still see the newsroom without being distracted by people walking about all over the place!

Reading the above 2 posts - i can just imagine the outcry if news 24 moved into a busy newsroom with lots of people walking about in the background, with a permanent scrolling ticker and the same astons as now

Earlier I saw a new gizmo used on News 24.
The reporter was in the business unit and had quite a big LCD screen next to him on a stand which when he pressed a button out of shot graphics came up on.
More interestingly - it was all white plastic!
Maybe this could be used as part of the new main set?

I'm sure they've used that before - or at least something very similiar.
Interesting to see N24 trying out some new female presenters while Jane Hill is off.

They've used this many times before as has been said- personally I think there has to be a better way of doing graphs etc. than a hastily put together powerpoint presentation....before midday of course that kind of info is on the screen behind the presenter live at the Stock Exchange with the price ticker running below. I do hope the new studio has an area where this kind of thing can be recreated for business headlines.

This is something that I wondered about.
1999 - News 24 goes corporate.
2000 - BBC World goes corporate.
I take it simulcasts still happened. So did the flags BBC World handover to the corporate News 24 overnight then?

AFAIK News24 used to use the shorter version of their titles (ie without the UK at the start) for joint broadcasts. Must have been wird for World viewers to have a big BBC NEWS 24 logo on screen.

It was kind of a gradual handover to the corporate look for overnights. For about the first 3 weeks after News 24 had relaunched itself they would still use the News 24 Flags and graphics between 01.00 - 06.00 and they would use the BBC World studio as it was still in flags dressing. Then they switched to using the new News 24 studio and graphics etc. Occasionally before BBC World relaunched they would use the World newsroom if News 24 was out of action with the coporate graphics and titles. That really was odd to watch.
