The clock is moved to just left of the DOG.

Hmmmmmm! Unless they move the DOG slightly to the right to make room (which I can't see as possible as all BBC digital channels follow the same pattern) this would place the clock outside the 4:3 safe area.

I think I'll wait and see when the real stuff comes on screen!

There is a very good reason why the clock should not go anywhere near the DOG - what about when News 24 is simulcast on BBC1 and 2 without the DOG, in the cases of Breakfast and Weekend 24 - you'd end up with the clock floating awkwardly in mid-air. This is surely the most obvious reason to leave the clock where it's always been!

That would happen if the clock was on the right of the DOG, but if it is as insiderdesigner says and it goes on the left of the DOG, there wouldn't be a problem. Although the clock is never shown on simulcasts (bar Breakfast) with BBC One anymore!

but if it went on the left it would be out of the 4:3 safe zone and 4:3 sad luddite freaks would have a half clock like you get on RI:SE

But I assume if it did happen the DOG would move further to the right so that everything is still in the safe zone.

that would be against guidelines though would it not>? Plus it would look dafter than on the right.

insiderdesigner - I’m curious: what software did you use to design these graphics, and in which resolution were they produced?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

I wasn't watching earlier but I've just noticed that from 9pm Jon Sopel is presenting the IDS leadership crisis nonsense from...is that the news centre? Makes a nice change from the N24 CSO studio, although Louise Minchin is still presenting from there for the rest of the news.

From what ive seen its the Dateline London studio - Westminster (without the curtain pulled across).

I presume its because they want some guests in, and CSO cant handle that many people with all the desired camera angles?

Oh ok, thanks for that. I must admit I don't watch Dateline London so wasn't too familiar with the stuidio he was using. I hope the new studio for the relaunch is more like that.

Why the frig have the BBC decided to go with a CSO when apparantly they could use the Westminster studio. It looks great.

I agree!! During Westminster Live, Nick Robinson and Zeinab Badawi used to trot around the newsroom doing bits and bots and them mingle around the desk.

I dont think its practical to run a 24 hours news channel from there though. Westminster itself doesn't stay open i presume and it would be odd for any non-political related guest to appear there.

Have I missed something? Why has insiderdesigner been banned? (not that I'm complaining or anything...)

I'd worked that much out... I was just hoping for a good juicy story about how he was discovered etc
