RED AND BLUE are NOT the new colours for BBC News 24 or any other BBC news branding! Blue is only used in reporting scotland. They have diched the Blue look if any body has noticed. The blue look was before the 1999 relaunch! the colours will be Red and cream with chrome on the set.
If you have a look at the BBC1 news set, you will see that beige/cream do not make an appearance, or if it does, its not noticeable. Its been replaced by white and chrome. Given that the new News 24 set is bound to have some sort of match with the BBC1 set, it would be a bit strange to have beige/cream which would be quite noticeable, so I can't see the set like that.
As for the titles being based on the daytime ones, if at all, surely it would have to only be loosely based on them, as the daytime ones are just TOO simple for a news channel, and full 30 minute bulletins I would say as well.
BBC News branding has generally started to move away from beige/cream since the corporate look was introduced in 1999. The original captions and other graphics started of in this colour, but were changed to the original corporate News 24 style graphics, then to the red/black graphics.
What i mean is the current titles but instead of a cream background and a orange country/globe it would be a white bacground with red/peach colour country/globe.

Maybe the blobs would be used at the end, in place of the rotating 1/6/10/24/whatever?

Re: the titles - what you have to remember is that if you took the old (1999) summary sting, you'd have thought "what on earth can they do with that?" The current package shows what can be done with one central theme. I'm sure they'll come up with something good.
