It would be good if someone sets up a time-lapse camera in the corner of the room so we can see the construction of the new set, a bit like the time-lapse video of the making of the old corporate set.

Is this timelapse video still available. Can anyone send me a copy or let me know where I can download it from? pleeeease !! Very Happy

This is it I think.

Hope this works as I have never left a post before !

I notice on the top of the web page with the timelapse video on it there is a picture of Bill Turnbull with (I think) Valerie Sanderson. Did they present News24 together then? How long for - presumably until Bill got his Breakfast job.

With a name like Turnbull & Williams I would have thought you would have known already Razz

They done the 1-4 shift for quite a while, from the launch or soon after if I remember correctly. Bill then joined Breakfast but still done the odd afternoon shift but soon after he left N24. Val continued with Chris Eakyn but she moved on, if I remember correctly to BBC World but that doesnt seem to have materialised.

Many thanks Martin - I may be called Turnbull & Williams, but sadly I don't have digital TV!

Its difficult to believe people on forums esp when they say something thats almost too good to be true - is there anyway u can convince us that yr saying the truth? Rolling Eyes

For goodness sake do you want a pound of flesh or something? Why dont you just wait and see.

Incidentally, if you cant even bring yourself to write in longhand (rather than txt spk) then you shouldn't be asking anyone else to make any kind of effort.

I actually believe rat 24, however I was merely trying to explain the reason why so many people are rather doubtful.

..people as so easily offended on this forum, I think my 'tx't abbreviations were rather mild anyway!

Aha - we finally have firm confirmation!

Jon Sopel was giving a talk to the Debating society at my Uni today (he used to go to Southampton) and this is what I asked him :

Me: "Jon, News 24 is having a big revamp at the moment; what change, if any, will we see in terms of presentation and agenda?"

Jon: "Well in terms of agenda we'll be focussing on having more analysis and in-depth, something the BBC does best, and something our rivals don't have a lot of. Presentation wise, yes there'll be a lot of changes - a fantastic new set, lots of whizzes and bangs along with new music and graphics as you'd expect. trust me, it will be very good when it goes live at the beginning of december."

Straight from the horses mouth! BTW - he's presenting Breakfast tomorrow morning (not that that's what he's best at.....)

Ahem, which is what I said in my earlier posts I believe.

And no, I'm not bothered about you lot calling me a liar, I was trying to help, but you must appreciate the position I'm in. I have answered direct questions with direct answers. I'd hope you'd appreciate my honesty.

Ermm - I wasn't disputing your earlier comments, just pointing out that the plans had been ratified by someone prominent, in the know and in person.

Wrt to "[us] lot calling [you] a liar" - this was my first post in this thread. Unfortunately, this forum has been dogged by people who claim to know what is happening just so that they can feel loved when they get a zillion PMs asking them for info (think Jaron Van Der Starre Brass........).

These sorts of speculative threads always descend into a bitch fest!!! Please people, peace out!!!

BTW - wrt to Jon Sopel's visit to Sky News the other day (as mentioned in the Guardian's Media Monkey) he said he was there visiting a couple of friends and to look at their operation. Perhaps Media Monkey was right about News 24 sending out the spies.....

Well the lighting and tolerance of the keying have certainly been sorted out now, I can now not tell that they are in a virtual studio at all until they use a two way split when its seems a little fake.

Well done whoever sorted that out.

Yes the CSO does look better now.

I still don't know why for the 4-7 slot they do virtually all the programme with both presenters in shot, but on the 7-11 they do single pres shots as per usual.

Also, when they have a guest - like Andy Tighe yesterday talking to Matthew - the background to the guest is red with some screens to the left, not like the usual set. This view looks fine on CSO - you'd think it was real (perhaps it is?)

Purely out of curiosity - can anyone say how the improvement to the CSO was acheived? Was it a lighting change or was it tweaking the CSO circuits?

It's good, but it's definitely a video loop CSOed in. I saw an interview yesterday that had the same guy walk past (not the one from the main shot!) several times.
On that interview, they managed to CSO a different angle on the old set in behind the interviewer and it looked pretty convincing.

It seems the CSO quality seems to be defined by some very specific parameters and lighting... Tim Wilcox at the moment appears to be partually transparent.
