I asked this earlier in this thread, but the question got buried quickly and nobody replied:

How do BBC News staff know what the new set will look like etc? Have pictures, artists impressions or models been made? Just wondering..

I'd have thought that the fact that their building it now would give them an idea! Obviously though they won't all know what the finished thing will look like, but they'll know colours, desks etc.

Are you sure that they've even started yet? Someone said they had to sort out the Air Conditioning system first.

There have been plans shown to staff, I'm not sure about pictures.

The area itself has been boarded off, so it's not easy to see what's going on in there.

It would be good if someone sets up a time-lapse camera in the corner of the room so we can see the construction of the new set, a bit like the time-lapse video of the making of the old corporate set.

Is this timelapse video still available. Can anyone send me a copy or let me know where I can download it from? pleeeease !! Very Happy

Sorry if I broke the rules by doing that - just realised it should have been a 'request'. I am stressed out as have MBA exam tomorrow. Will know for next time.

[quote="c@t]I do hope they just drop the "BBC" from it all and start calling it "News 24", it sounds so much better.

Why should they? The BBC make the channel, and so should have their name in the channel name. Would you prefer that ITV News Channel became the 'News Channel', and Sky News became 'News'?

No, don't try to be silly.

I'd much rather the ITV News Channel became the News Channel and BBC News 24 became News 24.

"Sky News" is two syllables. "BBC News 24" is seven. It's too wordy, too long, too awkward to say too often.

Five Live has been an enormous success without the presence of BBC branding, yet all those listening are well aware it is a BBC station.

I agree with C@t, I think they should call it 'News 24' more. The logo and dog could still be 'BBC News 24' in the same way as Five Live's logo still has BBC Radio on it, but the presenters would call it News 24. People would still see its a BBC channel.

If you mean you should have left it in the Requests forum then don't worry, if it's in an existing thread and not too big a request it's ok.

EDIT: I've found this picture on BBC News. When was the studio in use? http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/38555000/jpg/_38555553_news_24_1997_300bbc.jpg

Exactly - Peter Sissons calls it News 24 whenever hes on!:

"Its 5.15, its News 24, Its with me, Peter Sissons, its time for the headlines...."

I think hes the only one who refers to it as News 24.

I think hes the only one who refers to it as News 24.

Sometimes when the presenter interviews someone they will end with "thanks for joining us on News 24" but Philip Hayton seems to be the one that insists on always calling it BBC News 24.

I think most of the time News 24 sounds better, except maybe at the top of the hour when "welcome to BBC News 24" or something like that would sound good.

Well newsmonkey spoke to Jon Sopel today, who mentioned a launch in early December. So either the dates been put back already or Jon was wrong. But to be fair he has a job of reporting/presenting to do, so dates of a relaunch aren't too important yet!
