I believe that this has always been the case, but since BBC News 24 is in the CSO, will we have a unified BBC News service from the BBC World studio?

Overnights will probably come from the World studio 6 nights a week. One night has to come from somewhere else to give the World studio downtime and allow maintenance to be performed. Since News 24's A/C problems really, really started overnights came from World 6 days and News 24 1 day.

As we've seen, the current setup for News 24 is also configured to have the World backdrop, so it doesn't make a huge difference where the overnights originate from - there's a high likelyhood of it looking like World.

Ok, I'm not particularly bothered what a new studio will look like, it's just a channel I get news from for ten minutes here and there and something to stick on in the middle of the night [although the flags era was very nice].

But anyway, can that plasma screen by Deborah here be chucked out now, the screen burn is just embarrassing. I know it's money, umm, make BBC World pay for it. It's got to go.

Why don't they switch the plasma to a different display when not on air!

The reason the construction of the new News 24 set is scheduled to take so long is because the whole air conditioning system in the newsroom is being replaced. That work has to be done before construction of the new set. As well as a new set the gallery is being overhauled and the newsroom, adjacent to the new set, is being redesigned and rewired.

So if you know all this....do you know:

- is the new set going to be worth the wait
- or is it just going to like the new 1/6/10 set
- will there be a real newsroom in the background

I can tell you that:

The new set WILL be worth the wait.
It WILL be radically different to the current set.
The backdrop WILL be real, with real people,as they were.

This, along with huge a/c work, is why it's taking time.

Will this be a real window on the news centre or a projected backdrop?

Wonder if the overhaul of the gallery will involve new graphics equipment for captions and stills etc., as the current character generator often trips over its feet most of the time, and the current graphics setup when most of the bugs are up makes the screen look cluttered, with more graphics on the screen that picture.

We've heard that it looks like a new or at least reworked theme music package will be used, wonder if new title graphics will be introduced as well.

Well I seem to remember someone recieving an e-mail from someone at BBC News saying that there were new titles on their way, at least to the national programmes. I'd imagine there will be new titles for News 24 at the same time, to fit in. And the relaunch of the channel would be the ideal time to start using the new style titles on all of the BBC News output.

OK, BBC News isn't exactly renowned for its logic in rebrands/titles/studios/graphics/everything, but I think (and hope!) that they have thought this one through!

It will be real - the new set will still be in the middle of the newsroom.

There WILL be new titles and sings.
The graphcs will be generated by a totally new device.

I hope I'm not pushing it but does that mean there will be new astons and graphics too?
