The concept of Breakfast at the weekend came about since the introduction of the old set so it wasn't properly catered for, but surely News24 Breakfast must be one of the channel's most watched programmes, simply because it is simulcast on BBC1. I wonder what sort of audience figures it has at the weekend?

Regardless, it should certainly be given its own place in the News24 studio. Bill & Sian deserve the very best.

Not strictly true - Breakfast at the weekends is an extension of Weekend 24, which has been on-air since early 1998 ISTR - and thus came from both News 24 sofa-sets (both the brightly coloured pair and the grey pair), in the days before the current (soon to be previous?) N24 set-up which was two desk-based sets.

Why not even use N9? World did through the weekend so why can't News 24? Do joint bullitens where needed. What they've gone for is just rubbish.

Don't BBC World have more news bulletins during the week than weekends? It would be harder to run two channels on the same set so they've opted for the easier option. As to the second set, why they couldn't have just physically got that and plonked it in a studio I don't know. It would look much better than the CSO even if they had to keep to tight shots.

The reason the construction of the new News 24 set is scheduled to take so long is because the whole air conditioning system in the newsroom is being replaced. That work has to be done before construction of the new set. As well as a new set the gallery is being overhauled and the newsroom, adjacent to the new set, is being redesigned and rewired.

So if you know all this....do you know:

- is the new set going to be worth the wait
- or is it just going to like the new 1/6/10 set
- will there be a real newsroom in the background

Jon Sopel, the Newsnight stand-in and BBC News 24 anchor, spotted doing tour of Sky News newsroom today. Top marks for subtlety for the BBC, which has ordered a revamp of its 24-hour service to try and catch up with Sky News.

Yes! And here's what I *think* the answers will be respectively...

- probably not Confused
- yes, but not as good Sad
- no, it'll be a fake one Evil or Very Mad

I think anyone who thinks the reason they are taking so long doing it is that it's going to be a huge change will be sadly disappointed. It's probably the a/c taking the time and the set will take no time at all to do. Sad

Ok, I'm not particularly bothered what a new studio will look like, it's just a channel I get news from for ten minutes here and there and something to stick on in the middle of the night [although the flags era was very nice].

But anyway, can that plasma screen by Deborah here be chucked out now, the screen burn is just embarrassing. I know it's money, umm, make BBC World pay for it. It's got to go.

Yes I know! The thing that I dont understand is why they couldn't use the standard BBC World logo - the one that is burnt into the screen. It just says "BBC NEWS" anyway - effectively the same logo!
