Well wherever News 24 come from, il be looking forward to when they relaunch. Hopefully they will still retain a real newsroom background because thats a good idea on a 24 hour rolling channel, but lets hope they let us hear the newsroom sound like you can hear on BBC World News, and also they should do more in the newsroom area they have, well we never know they may use the big open newsroom as a background. Oh well, only a few weeks till we find out.

I'd probably keep it as BBC News 24, but just drop the 'BBC' when the presenters say the channel name on air - i.e. "This is News 24, still to come...". Most of the presenters say the whole name, and it doesn't quite sound right.

Earlier in this thread, Joe Public said that he didn't like the name
BBC News 24
. His suggestion being that
BBC News
would do. If they were to rename the channel, what other suggestions do you have or would you keep it as
News 24
.

I can see where you're coming from Harshy but the channel does deliver news 24 hours a day, even if if some of this is simulcast. I think I would keep the current name, as I feel 'BBC News' brands all TV/Radio news out-put by the beeb.
But, as itsrobert said, I would only refer to the channel on air as 'News 24' as it's less of a mouthful. I cannot stand stations with 'channel' in the title. Not only is it a mouthful to say, but it clutters up the screen with the channel name presenation wise too - adding certain limitations to graphics etc.
What do you think about at the top of the hour having the programme introduced as 'News 24, live from BBC Television in London', and then continue to refer to it as News 24 throughout the hour.

I'd rename it BBC News considering that they only broadcast the proper proper News 24 service for 19 or so hours, while the other hours are taken up by Breakfast, and a simulcast service with BBC World, I think BBC News would accurately sum up the channel IMHO.

That's true, but they have to mention the BBC bit, to identify that News 24 is a BBC channel.
