Can we expect overnight broadcasts simulcasted with BBC World?
well they have been for the past six years so i don't see why today should be different

surely they won't be subjecting world to THAT THING they have at the moment. I would have thought it would have been N9 all the time. My dad was giggling at the screen burn the other day.

Plus I want Brekkie with "Bill and Sian" (only they can introduce themselves like that) from there again as it was great how they were bickering about the desk.

edit - is the second set a CSO aswell? It's better than the first one at least.

Bill & Sian were bickering about the desk on Breakfast? Damn it, I always watch Breakfast on a Sunday apart from this week, why did I miss the most interesting one?!

What sort of comments were they making?

Only they would comment on the change in set - any other presenters would be too scared to, because I imagine the BBC would rather the viewer didn't notice the change.

they were mainly complaininag about being half a mile apart and then loads of people emailed and said it was like they were on the Starship Enterprise.

Yeah, I was wondering how they'd cope with the distance! I could imagine them having to shout across the studio at each other!

I reckon the new News 24 set should include an area where Breakfast could come from at the weekend, with a sofa and coffee table, or at least a desk that allows Bill and Sian to sit close together. The concept of Breakfast at the weekend came about since the introduction of the old set so it wasn't properly catered for, but surely News24 Breakfast must be one of the channel's most watched programmes, simply because it is simulcast on BBC1. I wonder what sort of audience figures it has at the weekend?

Regardless, it should certainly be given its own place in the News24 studio. Bill & Sian deserve the very best.

Yes! Sian did comment that they should have a nice flower arrangement in the middle!

bless - and after they just got rid of the old ones.

Countdown music butted in over Brekkie - just 90 89 and 88 then it faded and then Natasha fades in at about 8 seconds.

The studio is slightly better but is still clearly virtual. I can't believe they are going to have this for 6 weeks.

ed - ooh this is new. Did they have this side shot yesterday? It looks mocked to me. The real one would have a brighter newsroom side and you would be able to see the plasma.

Yep - that side shot I mentioned yesterday.
It's badly made - I saw 2 interviews with it yesterday, and you could always see the clear loop of the screens turning purple and the guy walking past.
Loses its novelty value after about the 10th time you see it.

Maybe this is naive, but wouldn't it have looked better to just set up a small real set somewhere than have that dodgy CSO?

Even the second set would have looked better than this. Use the plasmas like Sky's news wall, showing images associated with the story and you're done.

Why not even use N9? World did through the weekend so why can't News 24? Do joint bullitens where needed. What they've gone for is just rubbish.

Why at 09.34 have they handed over to BBC World?

Is it break time?

Talking of the Starship Enterprise, it looked like someone was trying to beam up the desk and presenters just now!!
