Interesting there's a sport update on BBC One now with Matthew Amwhatsit, coming from inside the news centre and using unusal split-screen graphics (are they the daytime ones?).

Are they orange and white?

Red and white, but otherwise they looked like the daytime ones. I didn't think they were Breakfast's because they didn't have those orange squares in the background that Breakfast uses, and the two pictures were the same size and lined up, rather than one being bigger than the other.

Don't think any other BBC News channel/programme uses red/white graphics like that. Perhaps they are special "News Report" graphics for BBC ONE, used rather than standard red/black bulletin or orange/white daytime ones.

That'll probably be the difference between simulcasting and not.

Between 17:00 and 17:30 it would have needed to be simulcasted on World and News 24 as BBC World had news, but the BBC One studio was in use.

For 18:00, BBC World could use the BBC One studio so the stuff coming out of the BBC World studio would be for News 24 only.

More likely the director forgot to set the style of the astons at the top of the hour. In the World studio the aston style resets to World style each time a new running order is downloaded, ie every half an hour. The director has to override this to set the astons for News24 style. If they forget, hey presto, World style astons.

Automatic astons are not so much a problem as they will remain in a particular style until forced into another style.

IMHO, the director shouldn't press that button at all, as the N24 astons are s*it!

For god's sake, shut up about how crap BBC News 24 is and how superior BBC World is! Does it really matter? Most people who are in Britain do not watch BBC World and so cannot compare it to News 24. They're not complaining about the quality of the news studios and astons, they just complain about the news quality!

Which is why my dad said "this is the thing I hate about this channel - it's so monotonous" about the countdown before they stopped using it on Breakfast.

Is the world set newer than the 24 set?

Yes and no

This is the order of revamps

News 24 converts to corporate
World converts to corporate
World fafs about with studio making that silly hole in the desk
News 24 changes to their spaceship set.

So the set in itself is younger but the News 24 one has been tweaked more recently.

Ooooh! How funny !!! Rolling Eyes

Could you be any more disrespectful? Whether you were for or against the war, people died in it - and are still dying out there - and they deserve a bit more respect than you making it into a film title.

It may be all just cozy stuff you watch on your telly in your world, but to some people it's real.

Grow up.

Erm, I know it might seem slightly in bad taste but I genuinely think he was trying to link in to the comments made to Breakfast this morning about the World set looking like Star Trek, and their Iraq War presentation.

And so the countdown begins to News 24 live from the International Space Station, complete with chrome railings. This better not be a let down. Evil or Very Mad

Hi,

While the set looks much brighter and futuristic (like Liquid News??), I think the frosted glow from the background is distracting. The glow makes the presenter looks like an angel/ spirit.

Is this a temporary for BBC World?
