So, would it be better if the two channels merged to create a Rolling News Giant or be better off staying as they are now? Have the seriousness and widescreen capabilities of the BBC with the fresh look and decent graphics from sky and it would probably be amazing!

What would they call it? BBC Pie in the Sky?

is Lambie-Nairn rebranding the channel again or someone else?

News 24's analysis levels have increased hugely recently, and to good effect. The 10 minute discussions in the second studio are interesting and take the story beyond simple facts...all this is managed without flashy graphics, but with multiple guests/correspondents (admittedly with the use of screens behind them). Also there's been a lot more international content which is essential for the BBC to offer as its rivals can't.

I expect we'll see a lot more of this with TVC based reporters who can come into the studio to discuss the story rather than necessarily reporting live from e.g. outside the MoD or 10 Downing St. (always seemed rather pointless at 10:15pm). That way when a story breaks you can get an expert into the studio sharpish, long before anyone reaches the scene.

The graphics do however need to be smaller, and I say that as a widescreen viewer (where they don't seem as disproportioned to the screen as in 4:3). The intelligent-ticker needs to be further developed (and made smaller), so that e.g. it keeps breaking news ticking on the bottom of the screen whilst awaiting more info/live report...this would be much more effective than Sky's huge strap that can stay on the screen for hours.

And finally on my wish list...quietly drop this 'we'll put in more regional news' crap and drop the half hour weather update- we don't need 5 minutes of weather per hour.

So, Aston, do you know of any dates/info yet seeing as your regulary at TVC.

Do you mean "regularly"?? If, by that you mean every weekday, then, yes I am.

You know, I thought Ison was a bit harsh when he said something along the lines of "any excuse to show off that you work at the BBC" . Now I'm not so sure...

Oh pur-lease! I think there's a significant difference between being somewehere regularly and being there every day for work. I hope you don't mind me pointing that out.

Yes - I understand the reason for the thread, but still fail to understand the poll...

Well, I don't live in the UK, so I have BBC World instead of News 24...

Will BBC World be affected by the News 24 revamp, keeping a sort of similar look across all news services? (as BBC News has being doing so far)

Thanx

I think it will be getting kept corporatised.

BBC World will probably get a new set of titles and maybe a studio tweak but I can't see that coming anytime soon.

Apparantly I heard that they will be a revamp for BBC News 24 in October, with the rest of the News 24 set painted red, and the elephant in their theme music is apparantly to be made even louder to give BBC News 24 extra impact. Laughing

A bit of pure white with some nice bright lighting but not more red!

Hopefully it won't affect BBC World, their service is better then News 24's already, all they have to do is stop zoomin in too close to their presenters!

I've got used to the tight shots of the presenters - I actually think it makes it look neater somehow! When I look at the pictures on InformativosTV of BBC World before they changed the camera angles, it looks a mess!
