eeeh that makes the studio look huge.

Has that world presenter on Rob's clip been taking lessons from Peter Gibbs by the way? Watch the closing headlines and you'll see what I mean....

lol, probably - one thing that i did notice was that a pre-recorded weather bulletin with peter gibbs went out at 1.30 and he said "GOOD MORNING"!

One possibiltiy that could happen; If the new n24 set is going to take a while to build, perhaps this weekend is simply for a little set for BBC World to occupy while news 24 moves into the BBC World set for the construction period. News 24 uses its set a lot more hours per day than world does - so perhaps this is what is going to occur?

N9 looks very impressive on the wide angle shots in wide screen. All the action in the back ground is great compared to the warehouse of N8.

I just caught the end of Weekend 24 before switching over to Dick and Dom Smile and Bill and Sian read out an e-mail from someone saying that they looked like they were presenting from the Starship Enterprise, and that all the people walking about in the background was rather distracting. I remember there were a lot of similar complaints when the Nine O'Clock News started using the newsroom as its backdrop back in 1988.

I think one of the BBC peeps said earlier that by Monday, BBC World would be back to normal, which would mean back in their proper home?

I thought they use camera shots like that now:

Sorry about the quality, not as sharp as it used to be...

This still makes a big gap in between the presenters - if they got closer it would be better

Do you mean the part at the beginning where she starts in a high voice when she says "and now a reminder of the main news" and then all of a sudden immediately goes deep when she starts the headlines

I did hear about 8:40 this morning - Sian Williams saying that they were in this studio "because the builders are in our old studio"...

It may look like the Starship Enterprize, but's it a lot better and a lot more exciting then N24's set. Lifeless, dull and miserable are the terms I would describe N24's set, the quicker they are out of the N24 set the better IMHO.

Anyway I noticed they are now using World's astons and graphics, looks a lot better on both channels, hopefully this is permanent for the rest of the weekend!

During Weekend 24 they were using a 'straight from the front' N24-style of 2 presenter shot - the camera was clearly further back than on the N24 set.

Are they World astons? They were certainly N24 colour earlier. Although, they had an odd one where there was nothing to go on the black, but they still showed the black (N24 stopped doing that some time back).

That's the bit. It's like she goes into *serious mode* suddenly.

Who decided to stick that reporter doing a couple of interviews in the middle of a scrum of Turkish fans? Poor guy. I know we say N24 should get out the studio but still!

"Quiet night in Istambul" was Peter Sissons' response. Laughing He's got quite a knack for broadcasting on a rolling news channel IMO.

I remember during the Iraq Wars Episode II: Attack of the Allies when Martine was doing an interview right up until the closing headlines, and the man being interviewed had to just sit in between Mike and Martine while the headlines were being read out. Not ideal and I felt quite sorry for the man who was clearly uncomfortable.

It is however a very impressive news room, my one criticism would be the low polystyrene ceiling which doesn't help detract from the fact it is basically an office.
