The new DOG was just put on a minute ago (around 2.27/2.28am I think). Simular to the ones in the demo images, except it looked better, had a bit of a texture for the background rather than the plain colour in the demo images.

The NEW BBC News 24 clock just appeared for something like 20 seconds on the weather

Well now that clock's appeared, it's really dashed my hopes of getting a fresh and modern design of graphics appearing later. I really hate the way the capability is there - but just isn't used. The graphics appear they will be looking like ITV News Channel. There is just a complete lack of originality.

And I missed that, while my capture card was initializing so I could record the 0:30 summary to see if there was anything interesting...

Well if it pops up again I will be quicker with the capture button!

Does it look like the mocks that were posted a few dozen pages back?

I think they're checking to see if we're paying attention! Very Happy

Now I'm going to have to sit through Datleline London, Asia Today, Reporters and Hardtalk just in case ... no more flicking to Sky when it gets boring.

You can't possibly say that on the basis of one glimpse of a clock surely! Wait and see for the rest of the graphics and then make up your mind. What were you expecting anyway? There's only so much you can do with a clock!

Incidentally, does this mean the old clock has been consigned to the scrap heap already then - there doesn't seem to be one on screen at the moment.

Looking at it again though, it is absolutely enormous!

I thought it might look hideously huge over the weather graphics, but it's not that bad really...

I've already made it clear that I am waiting for Monday before I make final judgement. But now the clock has appeared, it confirms that James' pictures were not mock mocks, and have dashed my hopes of something original. Is that fair enough?

Yes, there is only so much you can do with a clock. But unfortunately it seems the graphic designers in this case have opted for an ITV News Channel-stylee big red box that will be intrusive. What I was hoping for - not expecting - was a bit of style. That wasn't style, it was a bit ugly to be honest. Look at the name captions on their own - they hint at the style I was hoping for: they were simplistic, modern and original. By adding that ugly red box, it tramples that style and takes it away. The astons are not complimented by the clock, they are rubbished. They would look far better with the current DOG and a small clock beneath it.

That is the point I'm making... there is no need for that clock!

I wonder where The World Today will come from at 5:00?

The answer is in the middle of this thread somewhere

Found it (well, someone reiterating it just like I am doing now)...

The World Today will come from N6... interesting!

I do agree with you that it's enormous and potentially intrusive - I seriously can't imagine the whole box being on screen all the time though, it would drive everyone mad! We'll have to wait and see - on screen, with the new set and other graphics, it might end up looking really good.
