Tim, I just try to deny my inherent geekiness but, tonight, it forces me to stay up half the night to see if the astons are different! I know the change is happening at 9 in the morning, but my geeky side is ordering me to stay up. And I've got a busy work day tomorrow!
I much preferred the old BBC World title music - they only used the current one on "The World Today" for a long time, and the other bulletins has their own theme music. I can't remember when, but they all took TWT's theme tune some time ago.

Johnnyboy, I always stay up to see the simulcast cos its the only time u get to see the BBC World titles and music. Am often disappointed however when they play the N24 bed when updating headlines or "in brief" rather than the proper BBC World bed.
Might have to stay up until 2 now to see and hear the BBC World titles with full bass for the last time
- has a very powerful crash at the end of the titles before going into the fade... the fade itself is much better than the "old" N24, consisting of two pulses in quick succession, with a longer pause before the two pulses again... well cool...

lol @ major setup. ur right. falling into this genre are Susan Osman, Debs herself, Gosling (yawn), Susanna Reid, and most of the others!
Where's Martine Croxall gone? She was a bit different with her flat vowel East Midlands accent... and of course the wonderful Gillian Ni Cheallaigh with her sexy Irish accent - mmmm.

Your posts are always good, noggin. What kind of chaos will the BBC News centre be in at the moment for the change? And will this increase the chances of cock-ups during the evening?

Suspect the yellow headline wipe was just a last minute thing - World will presumably have been cutting their headlines to their 'bongs' when they have been in that studio - so they wouldn't have needed the wipe until now. I suspect that is a quick "pretty close" copy they set-up in the absence of the looping logo that is normally used.

Why not use the standard National News Backdrop? This one is a tiled image which looks awful and so out of scale compared to the size of the presenter.
The World studio may be getting a new desk and a slight re-painting at the moment. Now is the only time they have to do it. Also pilots may be done overnight with nightime presenters or stand-ins...

Mmm....Gillian.
I saw her do an OB the other day however and she looks a lot better under the studio lights. However, even without those, she is a fine looking wench.

I wouldn't expect chaos - after all they've had time to plan this move - unlike the sudden power-failure stuff last week!
BBC World will have been broadcasting from the BBC One studio this weekend - so all of the major systems should be fine for the overnights (BBC World and News 24 use very similar technical and production systems). The staffing will obviously be a bit different - as the BBC One studio is designed for different staffing levels. This will mean everyone is working slightly differently - so it might not be as easy as normal - but on the other hand it will probably be more interesting to do! (The chances are there is someone operating the cameras for the director, AND a vision mixer, a positive luxury compared to the normal News 24 or World set-up)
There will, I'm sure, be people working hard to re-connect the News 24 studio and gallery into the systems they need to be connected to for broadcast on Monday morning, and also any work that is needed to update the BBC World gfx to match them will presumably be being done overnight (if World are to match News 24 - and I imagine they will for the joint service and shared coverage to make sense?)

I suspect they are using the backing they are as it seems to be a version of the standard BBC World main presenter backdrop - providing some feeling of continuity (albeit minor) to viewers who notice such things. Certainly the National News backdrop would be confusing to both N24 viewers (who would think the bulletin was a BBC One scheduled one - and wonder where Huw, Fiona, Anna, George, Darren or Sophie had gone!) and World viewers (who would wonder what on earth the strange empty newsroom with all the iMacs was!)
