Well with less than 12 hours to go I might as well reveal all those secrets I've been keeping from you for the last couple of weeks....

...only joking!

Seriously though, I expect we should see signs of the change from 6am tomorrow with Breakfast- I fancy that the BBC NEWS 24 DOG box may make a sneeky little debut tied in with some slightly altered brekkie graphics (but this is yet more idle speculation). Also without any form of a national advertising campaign for the relaunch (obviously hindered by the continuing power uncertainty), I expect massive trails during Breakfast (and perhaps a few hints to keep viewers hooked beyond 9am?).

Seems they've beeen forced to change the strategy to a "soft launch", so we may see trails for the new look News 24 over the next week as "available now" rather than the previously expected "from Monday".

And just before this bloated thread dies a messy and gruesome death, it is amazing how big it has got. This must be the fastest growing thread in TVF history- sure it's 200 posts shy of "the wales thread" but it has a phenomenal 120,000 more views and has only been open for 3 months (vrs 1 year for the wales thread). I hope all the speculation has been worth it!

I can't check now, as the clock has been gone for the best part of two days now, but IIRC it was in 24-hour clock anyway on News 24, so I would imagine it would stay like that?

No, wasn't 24 hour.

The News 24 clock WAS 24 hour. ITV and Sky News both use a 12 hour clock but the News 24 one has, for the last two years at least (that's as long as I've been able to watch it) been 24 hours.

I stand corrected! Embarassed

My turn to stand corrected. I'm certain that the News 24 clock has always been 24 hour, but I just turned to the ITV News channel and their clock is now 24 hours too....don't know how long it has been because I'm pretty sure it used to be 12 hour like Sky's. Now back to News 24...

yes, it is a 24 - hour clock.

The generic BBC NEWS image has made its, perhaps, final re-appearence on the BBC World screen. its been there for so long, its burnt into it!

Cut into the World titles as early as poss by the looks of it now. Got a good look at the globe spinning before the two waves cut across the screen.

I believe there was a time in its infancy when BBC News 24's clock was 12 hour, but in 24 hour format if that makes sense. So at 9.00 in the evening, it would read 09.00. Although this was soon changed to 21.00

Oooh, that is a good point! I wonder if they'll have to change the plasma screen, as you'll still be able to see the old generic image burnt in on top of the new image.

I also wonder if World will be getting a holoscreen, otherwise the new image with the black background would look quite out of place.

This is true:

I question the need for a clock at all - haven't we all got enough clocks already without needing one on the television screen as well? And considering how good N24 has looked this weekend without the usual on-screen junk, I see no reason why the channel name couldn't just be incorporated into astons etc, without the need to display it constantly.

Will World get a white desk like N24 and National News, because at the moment BBC World are going to have the old style desk!

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned that the World studio will have to have some work done before 9am tomorrow. Will this mean that both News 24 and World will be simulcasting from the national news set overnight...or can this be done during Breakfast so only World will need to use the national set?
