Thats good if "they" will look same, because allways when big news breaks on some where in world, N24 put those own graphics to World (I as World viewer) hate those...
I'm just pleased I predicted the holoscreen idea from a slight discolouration in a photo
Wouldn't count your chickens yet- we still haven't had confirmation from any of the reliable BBC sources, and AdamP (who I believe to be reliable) has visited the new studio and said that the new screens look like any normal screen (that's not to say they aren't holoscreens.
Trawling through a bunch of pages to catch up (since yesterday) I notice that instead of going quiet because there's really now not much to say until tomorrow (we all discussed weekend studio usage yesterday), it seems the waiting is getting people a little tetchy!
It was fascinating to see how many comments there were about the mocks (be they "real" mocks or mock mocks(!)). It moved from "They can't be real" - but people discussing them anyway, to "Oh - maybe they are real in which case you shouldn't be posting them"!
For Heaven's sake - when people start mentioning GCHQ in a forum like this because someone has posted a reputedly genuine image and gets attacked for it being fake, then for being real - you have to wonder why we're all reading... this isn't supposed to just be about speculation or personal preferences - it's also meant to be informative and based on inside information. I've seen confidential design guides in the past and if it's really sensitive there is a message to that effect written on the image!
Oh come on Martin. I'm sure Marcus and others have shared with us what they have felt able to.
Waiting another day isn't going to kill us, is it?
Indeed. Waiting a day and stopping nagging people for information will provide a nice resting day on Sunday, for those who will be very excited on Monday morning
As it seems the "leaked" images of the new graphics appear to be genuine (although they may well end up slightly tweaked), thought I'd give my thoughts.
They are an improvement on the current lot, and thank god they have finally shrunk the graphics back down, as I said somewhere before, when the info aston and the "on the phone" name aston on the current graphics set were on screen at the same time, you could hardly see any of the presenter's face, and a lot less of the picture. Looks like this has been remided.
Not too keen on the DOG, but I suppose their is only so much you can do with the DOG in design terms due to all the regulations on using logos etc. and the frankly plainness of the BBC brand corporate boxed and stripped logos.
Also glad to see the ticker has been effectively designed into the new graphics look; when the "intelligent" ticker was used earlier in the year, it frankly looked crap, especially as a DVE was used to push the frame up so their was no graphics clashing, it all made the screen look cluttered.
Also, I'd imagine that their is a 3-line breaking news aston, instead of the Breaking News Beast, so more information can be put on screen, and that the Breaking News Beast is used when info has just come in, and presumebly the BNB will also be used in conjunction with this full frame Breaking News sting.
You know to be 'intheknow' as you have been in the past about this subject your surprisingly 'notintheknow' aren't you. Infact I'm sure in this thread you've spouted out pieces of information which you claim to be true about N24's relaunch. But really all your doing is repeating details and asking more questions.
As for those mocks and james. If you've got 233 e-mails from the Beeb then I find it very unlikely that you HAVEN'T read that wee notice at the bottom seen as you will have seen it 233 times
I think we all need to tidy up our Kleenex. Have a wash. Make a cup of tea and have a biscuit. Take a seat/ Goto Bed. Sleep. Get up at 5am - because no doubt half this forum will. Watch Breakfast and simply wait for 08.59.
The words pot, kettle, black come to mind you stupid little boy. Wasn`t it you who created a second username (isn`t that against forum rules?) to post some extremely poor mocks and try to pass them off as the genuine article?
As for some information I posted, yes, I`ll admit I posted some rumours I had heard from friends, some of which was later confirmed or hinted at by people like NickyS in one place or another, some of which turned out to be false. You following Big Bother?
You are one of the people that really do make this place look bad, one of the self appointed moderators and voice of reason; leave that to the people who are actually here to do it.
The post which you quoted me above was just me giving my opinions on the graphics, which it has been acknowleged that are genuine, or close to at any rate. Isn`t that what this forum is for?
As for me "repeating details", isn`t that what other people have been doing as well. People come into this thread, having not read it before, and given the sheer size, can`t be bothered to trawl through it (can you blame them). So I and others just tell them the bits which they want to know from earlier. What is the crime in that?
If people want to simply bitch about each other then please do it else where. I am getting fed up of reading through 5 pages of bitching to see if anything related to the topic has been posted.
At the end of the day there is no point in trying to shut the stable door after the horse has bolted in regards to the 'new astons'. There's no point in having a lengthy conversation as to whether those pics should have posted on or not in this topic. The easiest way to know whether they are genuine is to watch News 24 tomorrow.
Adam said that they looked like ordinary screens - 'a few sheets of
glass
- glass? Sounds holoscreenish to me Plus joy210 has mentioned them being used -somewhere- on the set. Another idea is that the missing News24 logo on the front of the desk is to be projected? That's a really random idea though

I wouldn't give too much credence to anything joy210 might have to say....
Watching Reporters on BBC World I see that the World DOG lies over the Reporters DOG and also that everytime an aston on the programme fades out so does the programme's DOG - but just for a second, very strange.

Yeah, it did that on N24 too!
So does the BBC WORLD DOG obscure the Reporters DOG?
The Reporters DOG was indeed obscured by the World DOG, but more interestingly was the fact that the letters ld of World extended over the edge of the DOG. This was not the case before and shows that not only is the Reporters DOG shorter than before, it is also narrower.
