Just as an aside (and in no way an attempt to rewind the thread)... I think the BBC need to do a re-wording on thier email signature. If you read this section:
It makes out that you are only not allowed to copy or disclose the information -if- you have recieved it in error. Given that James has had over 200 emails from them, it's not a mistake - so he is free to do what he wishes with the information in the information as he was meant to recieve it.
Oh and I too would appriciate a video clip of the relaunch [they'll probably do a special 3 minute feature on it about 9:05 [after headlines - breaking news permitting]. I'm in college until 12:30, so i'll be home at about 1:30 [yes, it really does take me an hour to get back :S]

Couple of points I'd like to bring up...
Firstly, looking at Reporters this morning on my widescreen telly via Sky, the Reporters DOG in the top left did not leave room for a News 24 DOG. Yes, there was a slice of orange on top of the logo, but not enough for a DOG. The News 24 DOG usually sits, on my tv anyway, exactly where the Reporters logo was.
This makes me think that the News 24 DOG will not be top left anymore.
For people who say that BBC DOG policy says they have to be top left, you could say that News 24 isn't having a DOG anymore. It's just having it's name as part of the clock. The BBC NEWS slug on the 1/6/10 isn't a DOG is it?
Another pleasing thing I noticed was the way the right hand edge of the Reporters DOG perfectly lined up (I'm not used to typing those words for News 24!) with the left hand edge of the aston.
Again, the Reporters astons seemed to follow the theme set by Australia Direct and Hardtalk. Funny how the version of the astons from the contested email posted by A Major Setup don't seem to follow this theme.

Glad someone else spotted this. I thought I was going mad. Presumably the background seen at the beginning was the one BBC World were using.
I have seen this before and it was like that for about 3 days. It's not the backdrop that World was using, but an extra open space curly shaped thing.
Yes at the start there were 3 of thoses oval shaped things on the background (one in each section). By the end this had been corrected to show just one oval in the left hand section.
I used BBC News' broadband service thingy to watch yesterdays weekend news to check.

If you watch the BBC One Late Evening News from yesterday (Link) you can see that the background behind the presenter is a different one at the beginning of the bulletin than at the end of the bulletin.

But it says in the first place, that the email is confidential.
Technically it isn't confidential as it can be intercepted by those at the GCHQ/Menwith Hill, the network manager at the BBC or the ISP of James' mailbox. However the only way in which it could be truly made confidential and unread to anyone else would be to have sent it encrypted.

But really of course they do. They are right aligned, leave space for the boxed DOG, have a coloured box stretching off the right of the aston, are at the same height to allow the ticker to run below...
Don't forget the "leaked mocks" don't show the basic story screen i.e. a story strap and two-line aston...this is likely to look very similar to the AD/Hardtalk/Reporters etc. graphics.
Another minor question of the alleged new graphics....it strikes me that sticking the current BBC Sport graphics onto the new look would look absolutely awful- they are quite small and wouldn't line up with box DOG. I expect we'll see these slightly modified to fit the new look- I doubt they would drop them entirely in favour of just using the new graphics set (they've only been out for a couple of months, and fit BBC Sport corporate branding).

Glad I'm not the only one who can't see a space above the Reporters DOG!

Here is a prediction*.
You'll all hate it.
*Prediction based on the fact that on TV Forum, everyone hates everything new and is greeted with howls of "I could do better myself".
The good news of course is that, in time, when you've all left school and have got real jobs as graphic designers we'll be able to see what you can really do! Of course by that time there'll be people on TV Forum who hark back to the good old days of BBC News 24 2003 (when TV was much better).

As I predicted some 150 odd pages ago:
BBC World and News 24 will launch exactly the same graphics set at exactly the same time, yet for some unknown TV Forum reason, BBC World's will be "agreed" to look so much better.
TV Forum stereotypes- you got to love 'em

Let's wait until tomorrow then and see what the reaction is. You can also look back through TV Forum and see how everytime ANYTHING is relaunched the same reaction is repeated. It's entirely predictable.

Excuse me Mr. No Useful Input... I think you'll find that we've actually been having a quite balanced discussion on this. Why don't you head back to your drawing board and make up another flawed insult for all us to shoot you down in flames over.
