Does everyone agree that the new look will be unveiled just after Breakfast finishes, around 0858/0859?

Does anyone know when the World change will take place?

Both channels are due to launch at the same time, although Worlds systems have yet to be programmed and tested, and no World pilots have yet taken place, so they may go on air with a vastly simplified system.

Well I hope everything goes ok for the re-launch. I will not post any more comments here, as I feel people would prefer I just disappear.

Having thought about the graphics again, and the screenshot from Reporters... if the DOG/Clock is part of the graphics now and not just slapped on over the top of everything else, wouldn't that mean that actual programmes i.e. Reporters, Hard Talk, Australia Direct etc. wouldn't have the DOG/Clock... and that's why the space has been left for the top-left-corner DOG in Reporters? Also some programmes haven't changed their aston designs (yet?), such as Click Online.

Went for a look at the new studio overnight. The lower part of the glass at the back isn't as white as it looks in the press photos. The projection screens look pretty much like any others - a couple of sheets of glass sandwiched together. There's a camera on a track on the ceiling, so expect some moving shots.

OK - things are getting a little bit bitchy now. Just to reiterate...

I received an email with the pics attached and I was not instructed in any way not to put them on the internet. Everyone here shows a mutual interest in TV presentation, and I thought they would be of interest.

Personally I don't give a monkeys what the new astons look like. The same with Testcards - I find both astons and testcards incessantly boring, but there are a handful of people here, who are interested.

I've also said that the pictures posted were just drafts. I didn't catagorically say that 'This is exactly what the new astons look like'.

As for anagrams, I think the majority of people on this forum know my true identity, and I don't particularly care either way. I have nothing to hide, unlike some.

I have 233 read emails in my inbox from the start of October. 28 of them are from bbc.co.uk addresses. I rarely read the small print, but I fail to see how 3 compressed JPG's of 3 dodgy mocks are going to bring the BBC into disrepute or create a serious lapse in confidentiality.

Talk about making a mountain of a molehill!

If you feel that strongly, Marcus & Larry, I shall remove the images. I'm not here to p*ss anyone off, even if I do think you're being rather petty about this.

Surely the point is if you were asked by whoever your source was not to put them on the internet then that would be the sensible thing to do - whether they are real or not. As Marcus and Larry have both said it's breaking confidentiality if nothing else. Also as Marcus has said could get the person who sent them to you into big trouble. There are a lot of people inside the BBC who look at this forum. At the moment you're lucky that lots of BBC insiders give you titbits of info (as much as they can tell you) ... if that stopped it would be sad for everyone. There's lots more I know (and I'm sure Marcus and others) about the N24 re-launch and other things but we just can't say it. Can you imagine someone from Sky coming on and telling you everything about what (if anything) they are planning on Monday to come back at the re-launch.

Well, I'm with Nicky here.

I don't particularly lay the blame at James' feet here - he's just doing what you would expect him to do if he got e-mailed these pictures.

Just who the hell in the BBC sent them out??

It's one thing, as Nicky says, to throw a few titbits out. But to post something that may or may not be genuine internals mocks is another.

I would bet good money they have already done the rounds at Sky News ....

Shame on whoever e-mailed them out in the first place.

Let's just hope Marcus, Noggin, Nicky and myself aren't now told to stop contributing.

I was wondering this the other day, a few months ago MediaGuardian (monkey, to be precise) pointed out Jon Sopel being shown around in the background on Sky News while it was on air (hilarity ensues). So what exactly IS the relationship between the BBC and Sky on things like this?

Obviously they're competing, but the same can be said of Freeview; Sky co-operate with them while also launching rival services.

Assuming those designs are genuine, how are they going to work with BBC World? World doesn't use a clock, so you'll either end up with A) a gap underneath the BBC World DOG or B) an oversized BBC World DOG.

Frankly, those designs are ill thought out to me - and considering we've been told that the new graphics are meant to be an evolution of the current design - someone should tell the higher-ups at the BBC that evolution usually implies moving forward and improving. I've seen a number of mocks at this site which tweak and build on the current designs, and they're a hell of a lot better.

From what we've got so far, this looks to me like the Beeb taking an axe to the corporate design, where a fine scalpel would suffice.

Oh come on Martin. I'm sure Marcus and others have shared with us what they have felt able to.

Waiting another day isn't going to kill us, is it?

Indeed. Waiting a day and stopping nagging people for information will provide a nice resting day on Sunday, for those who will be very excited on Monday morning Wink

As it seems the "leaked" images of the new graphics appear to be genuine (although they may well end up slightly tweaked), thought I'd give my thoughts.

They are an improvement on the current lot, and thank god they have finally shrunk the graphics back down, as I said somewhere before, when the info aston and the "on the phone" name aston on the current graphics set were on screen at the same time, you could hardly see any of the presenter's face, and a lot less of the picture. Looks like this has been remided.

Not too keen on the DOG, but I suppose their is only so much you can do with the DOG in design terms due to all the regulations on using logos etc. and the frankly plainness of the BBC brand corporate boxed and stripped logos.

Also glad to see the ticker has been effectively designed into the new graphics look; when the "intelligent" ticker was used earlier in the year, it frankly looked crap, especially as a DVE was used to push the frame up so their was no graphics clashing, it all made the screen look cluttered.

Also, I'd imagine that their is a 3-line breaking news aston, instead of the Breaking News Beast, so more information can be put on screen, and that the Breaking News Beast is used when info has just come in, and presumebly the BNB will also be used in conjunction with this full frame Breaking News sting.

You know to be 'intheknow' as you have been in the past about this subject your surprisingly 'notintheknow' aren't you. Infact I'm sure in this thread you've spouted out pieces of information which you claim to be true about N24's relaunch. But really all your doing is repeating details and asking more questions.

As for those mocks and james. If you've got 233 e-mails from the Beeb then I find it very unlikely that you HAVEN'T read that wee notice at the bottom seen as you will have seen it 233 times Rolling Eyes

I think we all need to tidy up our Kleenex. Have a wash. Make a cup of tea and have a biscuit. Take a seat/ Goto Bed. Sleep. Get up at 5am - because no doubt half this forum will. Watch Breakfast and simply wait for 08.59.

If you watch the BBC One Late Evening News from yesterday (Link) you can see that the background behind the presenter is a different one at the beginning of the bulletin than at the end of the bulletin.
