It actually simply pulls the XML feeds and uses the headlines from those - it goes through them one at a time so the world stories come up eventually.

I love the little More news at www.bbc.co.uk/news bit at the end though.

Excuse my ignorance but "XML"....common ca?

XML is a similar programming language like HTML, and it is a common language for data, which can be sent and understood by many systems.

So if World's on the move too could there not a be a slight possibility that the new set will be in the same area as BBC World therefore World coudn't broadcast while a new set was being built next to it??? Surely they'd be wanting to move the set away from the newsroom rather than take up more space in the newsroom for an even bigger set than they have now.

The new News 24 studio is being built in the same place as the current one. The only reason that World is moving out of its newsroom/sets is so that News 24 can still broadcast properly, producing joint bulletins for both channels from World's set, while the summaries on World are made elsewhere by the on-duty World presenter. News 24 are staying in the News Centre; BBC World is actually outside the News Centre.

Oh I knew that... just wanted to see if anyone picked up on it and suddenly decided it was moving. lol

Hmmm Business today from the main desk, clearly Set 2 has gone.

For all we know set 2 could still be there. The camera used for the opening shot at the top of the hour is either attached to the set 2 wall or the roof.

It's the roof, somehow I've seen that, I think it was on the ad they had a while back.

Yes, that's the one. The second set is positioned (at the moment) directly opposite the main news set, and so shares the same cameras and monitors. The aerial camera is attached to the roof IIRC.

People believe it's gone, because it hasn't been seen on screen this week. It may have been moved to where the main set is going over the weekend.
None of the BBC regulars have specifically stated what's happened to it, although they have said that the move is taking place this weekend, with both News 24 and World not in their regular locations. Presumably work will start on the new set(s) within the next week or so, while N24 has its temporary home elsewhere.

This has been Neil Green with the BBC News 24 news summary. Smile

Well Bill and Sian are in N9 and - hurrah - using that wonderful black set for the paper review. They don't like being half a mile apart though.

It's always amazing to watch how news 24 - the most appauling channel in studio terms - use the World studio so much better than World do.

So what exactly is happening? Are they only in N9 while the second half of N8 is carted upstairs?

World are currently in N6, with Lucy Hockings. It really looks strange having World in there! They are making good use of the laptop though.
