BBC Four News had come from N6 in the past, when there were problems with N9, but is was when the old set was in there. I've found images I upload on here on the night that it happened, in my webspace! Shows how often I clear it out! Anyway, here they are:

It looks quite good there, so with the current projection stuff in N6, I imagine it would look very good.
Was this the same occasion when Newsnight came from the BBC One News Set with a Newsnight background projected? Or was iot pre-Dec 02?
that looks bloody good, i wonder if the titles animated?!?, i think N6 would be better for the show, the current set for 4news seems to have an area to its left with lights( have you seen this, i cant find a pic to show) i never really liked there studio much!!! i was led to belive the set was where they present sports today from, is this true?? any ways thanks for the pic rob very interesting any got caps of newsnight coming form there???
Yes, IIRC the background did animate. Unfortunately, I don't have any captures other than those images, as my then TV card was crap at taking video caps!
The current BBC 4 set is directly opposite the BBC World news set (the direction that Joanna Gosling & Andrew Simmonds are facing tonight on N24). Right next door to the BBC4 set - to its left - is the Sport Today set. That's the one you can see with the lights when they do the opening and closing shots. The BBC 4 set is very small, yet looks quite big on screen.

I am interested in how many people are hopeful for the new look. Also is there any hint that SKYnews have some tricks up their sleeve for Monday.
I personally feel that if SKY were to try anything, it would be futile, unless they plan to do some decorating for the set and actually do something which constitutes a change. Anything less will not look good for SKYnews, which will be accused of copying...

thanks for that i wasnt to sure but i had a feeling that was the case, not having BBC WORLD i couldnt be sure!!! N6 is a real multi-purpose set!!! most BBC News shows would look ok in this set!! i wonder if LDN were to break down ever, would they use TVC (as its quite to marleybone) wat that would look like in N6, my wild imagination again!!

SP
N6 is used for the 6 Forum on DSat and online during the regional slot, so wouldn't be available to LDN.
BTW why do the news studios start numbering at 6?

ive noticed that Talking Movies appear to be using new astons (offset to the left) like australia direct but of poor quality, considering the approching re-brand
JA
I also noticed the new astons on Talking Movies, which leads me to believe that the new DOG we will see on monday will be along the lines of the red box that appears over the clock during the news updates on Breakfast. Hopefully messers NickyS and Marcus could enlighten us on the issue...

I like the two-presenter camera angle they're now using on News 24. It looks better with Joanna sitting in the foreground and Andrew in the background. The shot they were using earlier in the evening made them look too far apart because of the large gap between the two halves of the World newsdesk.
When I was watching in 4:3 mode downstairs at 7pm they were both at the edge of the screen, though it didn't look quite as bad in 14:9 or 16:9.
