Bit off-topic, but it's worth noting that at this particular moment, for the first (and probably last) time in history there are no DOGs on BBC1, 2, 3, 4 and News 24! Razz

Oh yes. That must mean that they are all connected/ all going to change/ removed completely*

It does seem an odd choice to shoot from that last angle. It just makes the World newsroom (and the non-existent national one) look entirely fake, rather than just a little bit.

Bloody awful.

No, just coincidence ... but as Robert says, once BBC ONE and BBC TWO get their DOGs it will be very rare for none of the channels to have DOGs at any given moment.

Er what's this about BBC 1 and 2 getting DOGs?
Personally I find that the BBC channel name DOGs are irratating (appologies for the forthcoming pun) and I think the BBC are barking mad to introduce them.

I was under the impression that BBC THREE and FOUR have always been DOG on?

BBC 3 and 4 always have, along with News 24, Parliaments, CBBC, and CBeebies.

WIthout wanting to turn this into a thread about DOGs, BBC3 is by default DOG-off - junctions are always DOG-free, so the DOG is specifically switched ON for programmes which do not come under the DOG policy (music, films, drama, sometimes sitcoms go DOG-free, plus sometimes other random programmes); BBC4 is by default DOG-on, and it specifically gets switched OFF for programmes which DO come under the DOG policy. And BBC Parliament is DOGless all the time if you're watching on digital terrestrial!

And BBC1 and BBC2 have DOGs already, but BBC2's is only seen in the Learning Zone, while BBC1 uses the News 24 one when it's simulcasting through the night.

Quick question:
This morning at 8.30 when Sian did the news summary before Bill and guest did the paper review, where was she doing it from?
There was a white, translucent panel behind her across most of the screen and in the distance a red wall. It didn't look like any angle I recognise used at the BBC World news desk.

Well it was one, they use some odd angles when News 24 use the set. I believe it was to prevent you seeing the man doing the paper review sitting down in the middle.

Sorry to disagree, Pete, but having looked at the World newsroom from both angles (a particularly nice TOTH at 8pm with an angle down the newsroom reminiscent of the Flags era), there is nowhere near the main desk with a white translucent panel close behind the presenter.
So, still hoping someone can tell me where Sian was sitting.

Re these projection screens - didn't the Grandstand set have something like this years ago? A full wrap-around screen behind the presenter.

I seem to remember Steve Ryder demonstrating it to Andi Peters on Live and Kicking (I think) and pressing a button on a box by his desk which changed it to be clear, showing the gallery behind or to the graphics used on Sunday Grandstand, and then pressed another button to show a feed of TC7 (which used to be Live and Kicking's studio before News took it over)

Does it really matter? You can see from the caps that on all the background screens the image is exactly the same.

'Normal' viewers don't tend to even notice the studio, they're hardly going to notice (or care) if the background is fake.

As I explained before, going back from the plasma, you have a mirror, then the white panels, then the red wall and gallery. Therefore, the white panels, upon a close shot of the presenter appear to be right behind them. I've seen it on numerous occasions, including the same shot of Sian 8 weeks ago.

That graphic on the big screen in N6 looks a lot better than the usual circles on white jobs they use on the nationals
