I think it's incredibly exciting technology and I know the BBC relaunch team have been saying vague things like "the channel will make the most of state of the art technology". Here's hoping, but it may just be a bit too new to risk on a 24 hour news channel?
Holoscreens aren't that revolutionary - the screen on the BBC World Sport Today set (and which also gets used for reporter bigscreens on other BBC World shows) is a holoscreen and has been in use for quite a while.
It is a clever bit of engineering - a conventional video projector with a clever screen - but if you know what you are looking for you may have noticed them in quite a few high st retailers in the larger cities!
fair point, the bulk of the equitment will probley be moved today, but way in gods name are the presenters so confused, this is N24, this is BBC News, which one? all it would take is for someone to difine if this is N24, or a simpular cast on BBC World.
None of the bulletins so far today have been joint bulletins - News 24 has been broadcasting its own service from N9, while BBC World has been doing its own thing in TC10. So, I'm not sure why the presenters are confused about what they're doing.
Have you got any captures of World coming from TC10?
I wonder why they did not use the national studio (as they did all those weeks ago when we set out on the LONG and WINDING road that is the BBC News 24 relaunch)? I am still not clear as to why N24 did not stay where they were in the CSO set since at the moment nothing is being done to the World newsroom that would warrant the channel moving set.
I think the captures are really good! If they didn't have the blue reflection on the newsdesk you wouldn't even recognize that they are in a different studio.
Hmm.. nasty mic earth-hum (quite a buzz actually) on World main pres... looks like the gallery was probably thinking about that when they should have cued the sig too (hence... no sig!)
The buzz was particularly noticeable when a report didn't start - it took about 10" for the report to come in
Now.. "itsrobert" will repeat everything I have just said

Yes, this bulletin hasn't been too good - the buzz (which is really annoying!), no titles, long delays before reports...!
For those wondering above who the presenter is, it's Anita McNaught.
I'm guessing that, at some point over the weekend, World will move out of TC10 and into either N9, or their normal CSO (single, fixed camera) studio so that any equipment can be moved back into place.
News 24, on the other hand, looks *so* much more interesting at the moment - people actually moving about in the background, 2-ways on the big screen, and a big News 24 graphic in shot for news in brief stories. They even seem to be making better use of it than World usually do.

According to Media Boy earlier in this thread (a few pages back), it looks like that BBC World will be using TC10 for the rest of today. Overnight joint service will come from N9. Tommorow, BBC World will use N6, simulcasting with News 24 from N9 when N6 is required for BBC ONE, so equipment in TC10 can be moved back to N8. Joint service and The World Today/European Breakfast on Monday early morning will come from N6, as TC10 will be offline, and N9 will also be offline so new kit can be installed for World's little revamp on Monday. N8 and N9 should be in use from 9am Monday morning.

I think the answer was given before that BBC World has a presentation front-end that News 24 does not, so it's possible to make these moves:
World hands from World Newsroom to Presentation (making World safe)
N24 people move into World Newsroom (presumably all the news staff are back in the new/old N24 newsroom)
N24 output switches from CSO to World Newsroom
Now CSO is free, World people move to CSO
World presentation takes from CSO
I guess that after having to do the national news from Westminster and the CSO studio and everything else this last week, the last thing anyone needs is N24 or World people getting in the way of the BBC ONE studio!
