Are we still scheduled for Monday 8th December, or is the relaunch now back to it's original date of tomorow, december 1st?

Have you been reading this thread. Parts of TV Centre are still on low power, which means no pilots have been done since Friday, if at all.

It's not physically possible to wholly read this thread anymore, in fact given the one week extension of its life, it may well even overtake the Wales thread!

Its almost got to a stage where we need a seperate topic that contains a timeline and an overview of this topic so far.

Just feel sorry for anyone who hasn't read this topic since Thursday evening, as a lot has happened since then.

So can we also assume that we wolnt see the pre-news ident either?

Rachel Attwell's just been on LBC 97.3's media programme with Matt Wells.

Sadly it was very obviously recorded on Thursday or earlier, as it refers to the relaunch as tomorrow...

Very interesting listening. Interesting how she is not afraid to say how dull she feels the channel is at the moment.

Is it me or does Rachel Attwell sound very much like a man?

I didn't know Steve Martin did LBC travel news, he's gone down in the world!

I think this lumping of everything into one thread is a bit annoying because it creates massive threads and having to wade through them can be a pain in the rear end for those of us who do not follow the thread through from page 1.

Perhaps instead of lumping everything in one thread, we should have a sub-forum for each subject (e.g. Wales, BBC News) so that developments relating to the respective subject can be placed in its own thread.

It also means that we can have seperate threads for topics (e.g. BBC News 24 Rebrand, BBC World rebrand, BBC power cut etc) rather than having everything in one thread.

Where did this pre-news ident rumour come from? Was it referring to skateboarders, or maybe Tai Chi - both of which are considered appropriate for news

That's a good idea, even if it's just a temporary one for a couple of months for a big TV Forum "event" such as the relaunch of BBC News.

I raised this issue about a month or so back and I got a good few members jumping on my back saying I had no right to bring it up... although my poll results suggested that 2/3s of people here would like individual forums for each main topic...

I know it would involve a lot or reconfig on Asa's part, but it would make the forum better equipt for situations like this...

Something I have also noticed in this thread, because of the diversity of issues being discussed in this thread ALONE (from power cuts to the new set), people are asking questions or making comments that are so specfic, they're not being answered (I have asked several questions about the relaunch, not one being answered).

Message to tvmercia, I am not interested in any reply from you on this issue.

Ha! You just try being the person who hasn't had time to visit TVF since Monday or Tuesday...

Yeah she did sound like a man!

Again I thought the interview was interesting, very good that she admitted that News 24 had faults and that this rebrand should put these right. It hopefully shpudl mean that they really do mean business this time and its the actual channel that is going to change and not just the look if the channel.

I'm not too keen on separate forums - I think it is better having it all in one place where we can see it, but I really do not like these huge threads. I often think that it discourages people from posting, as they have to wade through massive topics. I thought it was better in the days when there were separate threads for different things - e.g. there would be one for the use of TC10, one for the relaunch discussion, another for the power failure etc, which would make it a lot easier to organise, and more accessible. I went away for two days at the start of the week, and I ended up with about 10-15 pages to read. I feel sorry for anyone who has been away since Thursday - there must be about 40 pages since then!

I can understand the argument that having everything in one place (e.g. Newsreader and Reporter thread) is better, and keeps the forum less cluttered, but when searching for something specific and being taken to page 34 of a 70 page thread is really annoying!

I went away Tuesday and came back Saturday and had upwards of 40 pages to read through. Evil or Very Mad

I'm not either, but I think it could work provided that it's only done under special circumstances, and that there's only one extra forum going on at one time, for a limited time. In this case, the "Featured thread" picture on the front page could link to a special sub-forum just for the relaunch of BBC News/24. This would keep it in the spirit of the forum and provide more ease-of-access to info and discussion for big TV Forum events like this.

Shocked Oops - I've just realised this is way off topic now! Carry on... Smile
