Well BBC World's day begins at 5am, not 9am like News 24. Therefore, I'd imagine that N9 would be offline from 1-5am - 4 hours, and go straight into The World Today.

But wouldn't that mean that the equipment would be set up with the new look, which isn't launching till 9?

As I said, News 24's day starts at 9am, so that's when they'll unveil the new look; World on the other hand, starts at 5am, so I would imagine that's when they'll unveil it. It wouldn't make sense to carry on with the old style until 9am, just so they can do it together.

But TWT goes out on News 24 so would they want to waste the launch of the new look at 0500 in the morning???

Well, I think you might be right. Looks pretty good. If this is a hint of the new look, thank goodness it's off the bottom of the screen and smaller. Much more sophisticated.

But could they use the bottom of the screen for something else?

that would leave space for the occasional ticker

I can not see what really needs to change regarding the weather - hopefully they wouldn't do like some regional weather does and have random places labelled, which change every day.

I like the current setup, particularly how it is done on the live outdoor broadcasts (Breakfast).

I've just put some pics of the new set up on TV Today. It looks very nice.

The exact page is http://www.tvtoday.co.uk/article.php?p=68&more=1

edit - I'd prefer that these images weren't linked to in this thread as that is likely to push my bandwidth through the roof... sorry to be selfish.

I think it's more to do with the huge developments there've been in gfx technology since the current set came in ... 3D and all that sort of stuff although I know nothing about the relaunch

Well anything is better than telling viewers; that if they want to know what the weather is like they should look out of the window Laughing

Remember The World Today is supposed to be a flagship wake up hour of news and business for both channels. I think a grand unveiling then would make sense, before World then News 24 relaunch on their own.

I cant imagine any changes in astons, graphics & set at breakfast - perhaps the titles might change.

The launch will not be before 9am, on either channel

So it will be old presentation between 0500 and 0900, and then immediately to new presentation at 0900? That makes sense for News 24, as their day begins at 9am, but for World it is stupid - the first of the morning shift bulletins (0800) will be old, and then jump to new presentation for the next one at 0900?
