There was a fire at TVC

Erm someone mention on Page 156 (WOW) that there was a fire, the big long one - which was going to summerise.

There was no fire, it was an electrical fault which developed some smoke, which actuated the alarm system.

It's on the BBC News Website.

I, and a few others have been basing the comments of a fire on what Philip Hayton said on News 24 this morning - "a small fire and a big power failure".

small fire = something that develops smoke that actuates a fire alarm?

he said "small fire big PROBLEM" didn't he?

Have the systems have failed in the blue-screen studio? Will it be worth putting effort into resoring them when a new studio is ready?

It doesn't really matter does it? To most people, a "small fire" means flames - I'm sure they wouldn't automatically think 'an electrical fault producing smoke'.

Weird having Chris Eakin in vision in the background during the sports bulletin at Millbank

Edit: they've tightened the shot now so you can't see him!

Im confused, what was the whole 1 o'clock still about? Did N24 and news @ One simulcast? I aint seen the TV so don't know what happned.

Exactly so. Darren Jordan had been on News 24 since 10:30 ish, at 12:30 they showed a Hard Talk. The weather was after this, and they went to that still with the countdown music at 12:59

BBC One was pretty much as normal except the ident (Tai Chi) was from Network. There were no regional headline inserts.

Well there was a dodgy opt to the regions at 1.30pm, we had the ident with the LDN music in the background!

Re the lack of regional news towards the end of Breakfast, why can't the regions have opted out manually. Even if talkback was down surely if Bill and Sian had have said 'now the news from our news teams across the UK' and then ran a sting, the regions would then have known to opt for the usual length of that particular bulletin?

So is there no hope of a Monday launch? Sad

Monday's launch is definitely off. Postponed for 1 week. The planned pilots this weekend are also postponed
