Could anyone please explain what is going on at BBC NEWS? Here in The Netherlands it is just two o'clock and I am watching the news at 1 o'clock on BBC ONE right now... But everything looks totally different! The tites, the graphics, the studio (looks like a News 24 desk) and the fonts which are just are not as usual. The opening theme is shorter as normal and the name straps are more red.

Read the thread from 136ish and you'll find out. Power cut in short.
Regarding the News 24 astons covering up the live bug and location thing... I know nothing about the technicals of this, but would I be right in thinking that two graphics systems are being used? For instance, is the name strap being physically keyed over the live bug and location strap?

I'll summarise what's happened so far (this is what happens with huge threads!)
Basically, just before 8am, there was a small fire and a large power failure at Television Centre. This knocked News 24 (Stage 6) and BBC World (Stage 5) off the air, but Breakfast, broadcasting from TC7 was able to carry on in a relatively normal manner (although, according to the Breakfast article, most of their computer facilities failed). So, Bill and Sian continued until about 9.30am, when Philip Hayton took over, still broadcasting from Breakfast's set. At 10.30, Phil handed over to Darren Jordon and Carrie Gracie at the BBC's political studios in Westminster. They've continued like this throughout the morning, and it is where the One O'clock News is coming from - that's why everything looks odd. BBC World managed to get themselves back to normal at 10am, and are back in full swing.
