The BBC are claiming that it's a central equipment room in Television Center that the power failed for, and all their external communications have failed, and they have no backup.
And I know this ... when I worked for an organisation that sold these communications systems to the BBC, the managment consultants that they had in at the BBC said they didn't need them to have fail-safe backups for these systems...

The recent report on News 24 stated that the problem now is the restoration of the computer systems, because they all need restoring by a (I presume limited) number of support staff.

Can't they cut-out "BBC News 24" in some white paper and tape it to all the cameras?
The Logo-Free TV people must be getting the Kleenex out...
I have to say, I think they're coping remarkably well. Really the sign of a true professional. Makes onair muck-ups I've known look really, really minor.

I doubt it cos Darren's at Westminster and so Philip would have to go to Westminster and then Darren go back to the studio. So I doubt it...still we can hope that Phil will do the 1 from its usual home
