Breakfast still didn't opt the regions at 0828 because of talkback problems and referred again to power problems. At least TVC is staying on the air this time, though ...

Anyone know what the power fault is? Is there power in the rest of W12? And can anyone see what World is up to ... they should be on a break at the moment I think...

Maybe will all of the light in the new studio that single light in the birthday card was just one too many and caused the problem?

A chance for Bill to do some more of has comedy

A chance for Carol (weather) to come into a nice warm studio

Wonder if the lack of opts is because they can't get a feed from any of the regions to TVC to sustain with/put on News24?

I'd have thought that if the talkback was the only issue they could have got around that, told the regions to opt off the back of the sting and come back at a specific time (assuming the phones still work)

Not seen any live OB's since 8.00, I guess the SNG receive kit is affected as well

Yes, that's always a possibility, as Marylebone High Street (BBC LDN) is usually fed back into TVC as the sustaining source for regional opts. If that's not available to Breakfast or Presentation, then I suppose its A reason for cancelling them ... (but not a very GOOD reason if you ask me!)

A reasonable excuse for the 7.55 as the fault occurred maybe a minute in advance, and the region they use instead would have to be told not to opt out otherwise there would be all sorts of howl round, but I'd have thought that in the next half an hour something could have been arranged where Sian and Bill read the BBC London Ceefax pages whilst the other regions did their thing

Absolutely Steve. Wonder if they'll manage an opt at 0858 ... probably not. It'll also be interesting to see how News24 manage with 'reduced power' at 9am.

Looks like a fairly major power cut at TVC.

5 Live in semi-taped programmes, and BBC1 went green for a few seconds during Carol's weather forecast, so they had to cut back to Bill and Sian talking through emails from ages, and missed the regional opt.

24 News blank.

Radio 4's Today programme was off air for about 20 minutes, with apologies and music played by the announcer in Broadcasting House

But yes, imagine poor Bill and Sian after a particularly late and drunken Saturday night out having to sit at it for 3 hours on a Sunday morning!

Something tells me that they don't do that too often...

News 24 are staying in TC7 with Sian and Bill, sans DOG.

BBC 1 has gone off to Kilroy

Interesting! Clearly TC10 isn't able to sustain News24 as usual this morning. Quite how BBC1 were supposed to opt out of that Breakfast sting cleanly I don't know ! The Breakfast team could at least have left the reverb a little longer ...

Currently talking to a correspondent on the phone from Gloucester, seems that the SNG isn't able to get a feed into the studio, no graphics, just Sian and Bill looking at the camera
