Look in the 'mirror' and you dont see the orangey/brown ring, just a red floor then what looks to be the edge of another white 'stage'.

I think the white bit halfway up the left edge of the picture could the autocue jutting out from the camera - look above it and you see the camera.

No - the white bit looks entirely separate from the autocue hood to me. (There are no white bits on any autocue hoods I have ever seen...)

I don't think it is a mirror - I suspect it is an extra bit of set...

Have to say, surely a contradiction to come out saying News 24 will have a great emphasis on foreign news, but at the same time will be relying more on the BBC Regional newsrooms than ever.

I think that fits quite neatly. News 24 will be reporting on news from the BBC's bureaux around the World - the regions are in effect bureaux aren't they?

No, Moz, by regional I mean (and the Beeb mean) regional newsrooms across the UK. They are claiming there is going to be more regional coverage of the UK, but at the same time say they are going to have more focus on world affairs.

Hard to have it both ways, really.

I don't think that is another set - it you look closely, it could just be a mirror like the ones they use on the 1/6/10 set.

By the phrase AdamP used on p132, I think we can confirm that is the second set.

They have a whole 24 hours a day to fill - I can't imagine doing both would be a problem.

I know you mean regional newsrooms, and I'm saying you can have it both ways.

They should be reporting from where things happen, rather than from London. Hence the use of the regional newsrooms and foreign bureaux.

So to sumarise the latest developments:
Arrow The shot we are being shown is of the new central studio, with a raised desk which is see-through. This has space for two presenters and two guests/business/sport people (there are 4 embedded microphones)

Arrow On either side of the desk are two large-ish rear projection screens.

Arrow To the left (for the viewer) of the left screen is a 2nd studio, presumably for analysis, business today etc. rather like the old News 24 second set. Or this could be the dedicated breaking news area?

Arrow To the right (for the viewer) of the right screen is a "3rd studio" which has a large screen/screens for stand up presenting- the "newswall" if you will. A new 3-times daily programme called Fact File will be presented from here

Arrow There are new titles which will be different every hour, featuring pictures from a top story associated with the part of the globe they are coming from. i.e. the globe is prominent in the new titles and possibly also in breaking news presentation.

Arrow The new astons are smaller than the current set, but nothing more is known about them, other than a new piece of kit for the clock to ensure it doesn't disappear, and the provision for a removable (non-permanent) ticker.

Arrow Breaking news will be greeted by a new full screen graphic and (loud) sound effect. Breaking news coverage will be presented from a dedicated area of the studio?

Arrow "Sport and Business revamped" (quote from the BBC article). Nothing known about this other than statements about integrating them better into the new studio- perhaps less handing over to segments in different studios. Possible weather revamp on monday in line with some changes on the BBCi weather site.

That'll do for now, anything I missed?
