I don't think that is another set - it you look closely, it could just be a mirror like the ones they use on the 1/6/10 set.

Though I'm willing to be proved wrong...

If its a mirror what is it reflecting? You'd be able to see the desk and presenters in a mirror positioned there.

The bright red in the background is just wrong! Its too bright! And silver squares on bright red is just too cheap. I hope that colour is toned down a bit, and I hope theres better lighting around the walk behind the presenters, otherwise it's going to look dull and dindgey..

That could be a mirror, you wouldn't see the desk at that angle, only the left edge of it. But I don't think it is a mirror and I'm hoping thats another set.

I always thought that if they're having different areas, they'd make it all open-plan and not divide each section up so much.. so when the camera zooms in or pans down (whatever it does at the TOTH) you'd see all presenters standing/sitting ready in all sections. Of course that wouldn't be possible if one set is opposite the other but I just thought it would be open-plan like breakfast.

[EDIT] Looking on the smaller picture I'm almost certain its not a mirror. The main set's floor has a white circle under the desk, then an orangey/brown ring around that. Look in the 'mirror' and you dont see the orangey/brown ring, just a red floor then what looks to be the edge of another white 'stage'.

Isnt the newsroom area that you are talking about behind the presenters a mockup as the area wasnt finished when the photos were taken? Im sure somebody mentioned this, therefore I would only assume the studio bits are the finished product..

I think the white bit halfway up the left edge of the picture could the autocue jutting out from the camera - look above it and you see the camera.

I at least would like to see some sort of lighting on the wall behind (like above pic).

The yellow 24 doesn't go with anything! Can't beleive they have a yellow 24!! *shakes head and walks off*

The set looks really good, a lot better than the national news set. Is there no way that the national news could be broadcast from this set aswell, just like the Lunchtime, Evening and Late news are broadcast on the NC at the same time?

All looking good isn't it?! If there's ever a reason for this forum's existence, I think we've found it. Let's hope everything holds out on Monday at server HQ Smile There will be a locked sticky thread created over the weekend which will be automatically unlocked just before 9am on Monday (when RTS's existing thread will be closed).

With greater emphasis being put on regional news, I assume they'll be more 2-ways with regional newsrooms. I hope they all get a lick of paint. Some broadcasting 'booths' (or rooms, whatever they are) around the country look pretty scrappy.

Notice something here, finally we've got a BBC News related thread that has gone into its 130s

Yes, makes a nice change to have the usual 130 BBC News related threads in one, rather than the other way round.

Have to say, surely a contradiction to come out saying News 24 will have a great emphasis on foreign news, but at the same time will be relying more on the BBC Regional newsrooms than ever.

I think that fits quite neatly. News 24 will be reporting on news from the BBC's bureaux around the World - the regions are in effect bureaux aren't they?
