I don't think I like it at all (the logo), it looks like a step backl to the 80's and looks far inferior to the current one, which has a pure 3d look and lots going on...

The world on the new logo looks like the one they show on the national/news24 when it zooms out from Britain, spins around and zooms in to a country or region that the proceeding report concerns (you know, the one where the countries are orannge and the sea is purple...

I had hoped that the globe would look like the one on the BBC World titles... where is the 3d '24', where are the rings or scrambling placenames?

Might look better animated... hope they're NOTHING like the BBC Four News titles or the daily summary ones on BBC One... somehow, I think they will... they look like they've been done in-house.

Yep - there is a shot of Jon Sopel perched on the new desk.

Is this in that magazine or can I see it online? I'm p*ssing myself here so please be quick Razz I wanna see, I wanna see, I wanna pee, I wanna see...

It's in the paper, not online. Someone else will have to do the scanning honours this time...

Why can't you? It would be helpful to all us without access to the BBC bible.

Firstly, I'm a bit busy, and secondly the logo came out in such bad quality, you wouldn't get much from the photo, because the original is already a bit soft-focus.

Adam - it's in the same Ariel. The paper comes out every Tuesday.

There is no guarantee that the logo shown in Ariel is exactly the form it will take as part of the titles - it may be a logo used for anything from stationery to static graphics...

Will BBC World also get a new logo and, if yes, what will it look like?

I am going to be in the minority to say that i like this logo, it is fresh and has the potential to be developed. Now it looks positive world are getting similar titles, national nad breakfast will go lighter but strong link to news 24 and the whole font style on News 24 will now match the one used on the current countdown.

'fraid the logo will be red and orange, but the newsroom will be real and not virtual, like on the national set.

Media Guardian article on the relaunch

From that article:

"We won't be doing anything like skateboarding ducks underwater. If anything, our agenda will stay the same."

Now that is a real shame - I wanted more of that.

The new-look service, which launches on Monday, will highlight the big stories and house pundits such as the Guardian's David Aaronovitch and the Times' Janet Daley more effectively in the schedule."

Just a minor point - isn't Janet Daley from the Telegraph?

Even more strangely, David Aaronovitch is now at the Independent - bit of a bleedin' stupid mistake for the Guardian to make about a writer who left last month!!!

Mmmm..report now says Telegraph

Mm I suppose but it does look like a HUGE break from the corporate look... actually, there doesn't seem to be any corporate look elements in the picture we've seen. It would be great if we could see the set (pretty pleeease)

But wouldn't that just ruin the surprise? Shocked

Like the logo. Thank god they're actually doing something different rather than all this "building on the current brand" rubbish we've been getting for ages. I like a proper and well thought out, spectacular relaunch - makes it more entertaining.

Like the sound of bring the newsroom closer..but exactly what Sky News did back in 2001 really...it was pretty far away until then in the window/projector that just got progressively smaller over the years.

Having said that, sounds like they're moving in the right direction. Forward rather than backward as they've been doing for a couple of years. They may not pull it off completely now and live up to all their expectations...but they're on the way now and will certainly give Sky a little bit to think about.

What I am encouraged by however is this:

"Take something like the council tax protests. We only did that story when there were protests in London, although there had been demonstrations before then on the south coast and elsewhere."

At last! The BBC realise the world doesn't revolve around London. Use of regional services will be a step in the right direction, and should give News 24 the best UK coverage of all the news channels as a regional news reporter is never far away to start a news story off until one of the oh-so more important London people can get there.

I look forward to it with relish. No gherkins please though.

If only I had a picture of the studio - even if it was a blurred one Sad oh well. If this was Sky News we'd have had images posted ages ago! Smile

It does seem to have elements of a mixture of a BBC News (the short titles) and the BBC Four News...

One thing about this logo is that it does have elements similar to the screens shown on the National (that came in with the new studio, but don't match the titles). Looks like this is the new look, then.

I think people should reserve their judgement on it until we've seen it in action - it's just not fair to say its a disappointment until then! People always pre-judge things when all we have are a few scraps of pictures and information on this forum. Then, when the relaunch happens the majority of those people change their opinions in some way.

Don't judge a book by it's cover!
