From that article the things that stuck out to me were:
- Lots of glass
- Big plasma screen
- Areas for presenters to stand up
- Lots of new technology
- Camera phones for all correspondents
- Joining up BBC News, BBC Sport, BBC Business Unit
Here's a random idea: what about using the BBC News red globe in the titles, but having it rendered based on where the major stories are taking place that hour? Would be quite nice...
This is how the set looked as of last night. The big red circles I previously mentioned suspended from the ceiling are now illuminated. The set seems to be in three areas, with lots of glass and railings, and there's an area for desks behind. At the very back of the room there's a raised area, where it looks as though several plasma screens will be put.

An extremely punchy article in today's Ariel. I'm not going to cut and paste the whole article, mainly because it's not meant to be published online.
But we're told to get ready for a "in-your-face" rolling news channel which is going to "shout louder" about breaking news stories "with bigger, bolder graphics to alert viewers" which is hoped will change "perceptions that News 24 lags behind Sky on the big stories".
The channel will be more distinctive thanks to "stronger partnerships with colleagues in nations and regions".
On the logo, it will be of "dramatic, swirling reds and oranges against a stark black background".
And for itsrobert, it's said that "on-screen branding for sister channel BBC World will reflect the new look, also from December 1."
There is a lot more, but that would spoil all the fun.

Sounds cool, but I hope it keeps it's class and doesn't look like the original tin foil and bits of junk set they had back in 1997... it gave them no credibility... we're gonna have sooo much to talk about... it's made my freeview box in my bedroom worth having
Another member with the "I can see it but no-one else can..." attitude. If you're not prepared to post it then don't post it at all. Either let it be a big surprise or just say what has already been published anyway! Gawd.
It's too bad that this poll didnt have a "far too soon" option, because I think the BBC will give us what will inevitably be crapola titles of Michael Burke doing the cha-cha on top of a spinning globe
Seriously though, I think the Beeb will relaunch after ITV does its news revamp.
LOL the globe ides was known about on 05.09.03 (about 14 posts in to this mamoth thread and we all missed it)
Ariel isnt exactly a secret publication, anyone could go down to TV Centre or any other BBC building and pick up a copy of it for free... I just dont happen to be in London this week so i cant.
RTS might as well tell us as its not top secret anymore if its in Ariel.
