I've been watching News 24 (Istanbul bombings) and there was a report from a correspondent in a BBC branded studio. I missed the begining and end so I'm not sure where he was reporting from.

I hadn't seen the set/offices before. People were milling about in the background. It wasn't the BBC World set. Colours were dreadful. Lots of beige and deep red.

Is this a preview of the new set design? *prays to god that it isn't*

Did anyone else see this?

I think it was the Business Centre camera. N24 are using various newsroom cameras at the moment.

Yep - David Lloyn was at the Business Unit camera (made over a little while back as the presenter position for the BBCi Business multiscreen feed) for News 24. Mike Wooldridge was at the main newsroom camera doing a live into The Daily Politics at Millbank, well at one point he was. (I think this was at about 1255, just before the One went on-air...)

So with a little over a week to go I should think the new set is probably nearly complete if not already. Will presenters be rehearsing in the new set..? Some promos will surely also be filmed next week...

When can we expect the BBC to announce the relaunch date offically.?The press release about Simon McCoy probably deliberately made no mention of a relaunch.

The article in the Guardian did though:

I doubt they will announce it at all, it's not really that big a deal compared with a new channel. it will probably just appear on air at 9:00 next Monday

Now I will say at this point I haven't seen them ... but to quote a mate of mine who has the new News 24/World graphics will 'blow Sky out of the water' in what they can do/look ... I'm told the titles are very different. Roll on the 1st.

BBC World changing as well, what's wrong with their astons? Confused

Sounds good!

Makes sense to change them both at the same time. Less work than doing the whole process twice over.

Even if the graphics have text that lines up properly, and fonts that don't look tacky and just generally wrong, I'll be impressed as it'll be a vast improvement. Although seriously, I don't think any package of graphics will "blow Sky out of the water" - maybe a decent lineup of presenters who are free to be themselves and not talking robots would, but graphics just won't.

The channel needs to be slick and fast-paced. From what I've heard, it won't be. Other than some flashy graphics, it'll still be same old crap, and it won't affect Sky in any way.

Makes even more sense for them to have the same graphics since they simulcast a lot.

Providing the clock bug on News 24 remains where it is now - I think BBC World's graphics will still be slightly different to News 24, mainly the length across the screen.

I do hope that World does follow News 24 with its on screen presentation, one question, in News 24 actually getting new titles and is BBC One getting a new special News Ident before every bulliten.

That's true Phil, I really hope with all the graphics, we get the presentation, and hopefully should be more faster paced, and less repetitive.

I think that "what you've heard" means "what you've read". Nearly everything to do with the channel is being changed, not just presentation. As part of the relaunch the agenda of the channel has been extensively reviewed, and I'd imagine will be changed to make it more fast paced, better flagging and coverage of breaking news, and made more distinct compared to Sky and ITV NC.

I really don't know why people go on about "robot" presenters, many of them are perfectly good at what they do on News 24, being experienced and informed journalists in one way or another, granted some aren't (yes most if not all of them did do something else before News 24). If you really want to compare with "robot" presenters, at least check out ITV NC as well, where there are presenters like Sasha Herriman and Lloyd Bracey to name at least two of them who you could label as "robots".
