Anyone here think that BBC News (i.e. 1/6/10 no news24/world) should have credits at the end of the show, maybe with the extended close music.

Here's my icckkle idea

Peter Sissins: The main news again
[MUSIC STARTS] Reads out headline

[STRINGS BUILDING] The next news on BBC One is Breakfast at 6am where Sophie Rayworth and Jeremy Bowen will be lookin at the uses of ITV Digital leaflets as contreceptive.

Don't forget you can keep up to date with all the news as it happens over on BBC News24 but from me, goodnight.

[28 secs in thunderclaps] cuts to overhead camera (camera 7?) that starts to slowly move across the top of the studio to the right.

Credits could maybe be small white ones in the bottom corner that change with each beep in a quick fade like the numbers on the N24 countdown.

Then at the end a director bit could stay on for a little while and fade into a short 10 sting at then end with |B|B|C| NEWS www.bbc.co.uk/news on.

If you havn't got the extended close please download it by clicking the lnk below

I had a similar idea a couple of weeks ago, only difference that the camera at the end should be moving along the studio floor, and have that big screen in shot with the News logo on.

Its a great idea though, ITV News has credits, why not BBC???!!! Smile

How about during the credits Peter could get up from his desk and walk away and around him the lights flicker and turn off (the small ones =not the main ones) and the two huge projectors could like go into a clock thing before going black

I'm a bit surprised Liquid News doesn't have credits. They could do a CITV-on-a-Friday style thing of playing out with a band and the credits across the bottom. Remember when CITV did that?!

when did they use to do that?

For a few months after bringing in in-vision presenters. They'd go 'downstairs' (or upstairs - I forget which) on a Friday and play out with a band and credits scrolling across the bottom. It would end on a static CITV slide with something like 'Executive Producer' and 'Producer' or something!

I assume that studio became the main one when they relaunched with a bigger studio.

Well I see Liquid News does at least get a Producer and Director credit in the Radio Times for the Thursday night BBC One programme...

Good idea to have credits on the news -- especially for the chance of hearing an extended version of the theme music!

Here in Greece, it's usual for all the stations to show credits for their news broadcasts after the last main edition on a Sunday night -- often around 11pm.

ANT1's is probably the best as the end title-squence lasts for 2'30'. It lists all the journalists, technicians, editorial staff (from both Athina and Thessaloniki) plus all the news programmes' sponsors -- right down to who supplied the ties the male newsreaders wore and where the desk and furniture came from!

It also has the best music, too! The last 2 mins are actually nothing like the news theme, but the whole piece is great anyway!

Go to http://www.parosnow.com/greektvid/ANT1_News.shtml and look for the 151s 594k MP3 file for audio fun.

I always wonder why they never have had credits on the News - there aren't that many people who are dedicated to the news teams at One, Six and Ten. These are the only people I can remember from when I was at the Ten:

Editor
Programme Editor
Programme Director
Programme Producer
Vision Mixer
Sound bods
Lighting bods
Floor manager
Autocue operator

plus, teams of producers who work with reporters to do stories.

And, then of course there are the newsgathering teams who tell them all the news as it happens.

Would be good to have extended music with the credits and a little tour of the studio with a camera - although this wouldn't be possible in N6 because there is no room! Maybe we could have the high shot of the studio, cut to the News Centre camera from high up but zoomed in and then zoom out and then cut to a camera on Wood Lane showing the outside of the News Centre. (You could even have Michael Buerk or Peter Sissons walking out of N6 and into the News Centre and you'd see them arriving, clearing desk, putting coat on and going outside as you move around - could even have them getting on tube!!) Sorry, I've gone slightly mad, haven't I!!

I can't think of any news that shows titles? ITV News does show a few names - but not many and Calendar on YTV does not. It generally runs out of time and the presenters have to say a rushed goodbye!
