Am I the only peep here who doesnt like the current look?? I wouldnt like to get into an argument with u guys here!!!! But I think News 24 music is bland and a bit boring! I dislike the graphics in the opening sequence too - just a map of the UK and a 24. How boring is that?? They should at least jazz up the music a bit. The only good thing about News 24 is that they have a cool set.

Anyway, does it look like that they'll get a new look sometime soon?

Any thoughts??

Don't dis BBC News! I don't think it will get a new look for ages, the beeb must have spent loadza money on the last revamp with every news programme getting a revamp News 24, National news, regional news, world news etc etc

Indeed, it took over a year to get all the news programmes changed over, from the national news in May 1999 to Breakfast in October 2000.

I wouldn't expect any new look until 2005 at the very earliest, bearing in mind the 5-6 year cycle of previous news 'looks'.

I think BBC News has something instore though, as there have been new programmes, with a slight change of BBC News music, and the website having a slight new look today. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news with this on it: [IMG]C:WindowsTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE51G8UD6HImain_banner[1].gif[/IMG]
Also BBC News on Friday have a new sport ident, so i think it's here to stay.

When BBC News first unveiled their new look in May '99, I was like 'Oh My God!' At first I hated it but after a while I kinda got used to it, and now I like it better than the old style!

I think they could improve on some parts of it though...but what parts?

Sorry - did you get it the wrong way round? The music is cool and the set needs jazzing up a bit. Although I like the set.

I think the current look will stay as it is until the BBC move all their news output back from West London (TV Centre) to Broadcasting House which I think is scheduled for something like 2007. I can't see them making any major changes to the generic look until then because it would be so much work!!

Oh, and the changes to BBC News Online do look good...

I think we'll see a change in 2003 and then another in 2007.

And BBC News Online is as dull as ever.

No I think this one will be here until 2007.

You make it sound as if its static, its nicely animated and jazzy. The music is brilliant and funky. Its one of the few relaunches that i've liked at first(i'm not really one for change), other changes that I liked included at thetime Centrals '99 look because it was a change, but looking at pre '99 Central idents now I can see how wrong I was. But BBC News is one of the few changes that have been from something good to even better that i've liked from the start.

Unless Frau Heggasy gets her way it should be the channel idents changed a couple of years before the news gets a refit:
1991 idents change
1993 news changes
---
1997 idents change
1999 news changes
