Hey all,
Wasn't too sure where to place this one! I know of "guys" here prefer World pres. I myself can't compare as I've never really seen BBC news 24 (apart from overnight on BBC1). Well today here on NTL, we offically got the all new BBC Digital Channels, including News 24! So luckly we now have both BBC News Channels. Looking forward to comparing both!

Might be me being thick but how on earth have you got them?

I was under the belief that they were paid for by the British licence fee payer and thus for, well, the British.

(I know the argument about satellite transmitting and them being available in some other countries but this is cable TV).

Irish cable companies pay the BBC to carry the channels.

Well thats an old argument, but yes we do have to pay for it. On top of my licence fee, over €150 a year (about £105), I must pay over €330 a year to NTL (about £231) for Digital TV. How much out this this €330 the BBC get I don't know....but I don't get it for free......

I know you can subscribe to BBC One and Two on Sky Digital in Eire. I believe they are on channels 215 and 216. Will Sky carry all BBC Channels in Eire now as well?

From an irishman to may otheer nationalities. NTL is not a great service. On cable, they cut the one decent channel, Eurosport, and put on, wait 4 it, Bloomberg. SKY is way better. Anyway, I can get All BBC british channels and all the regions (apart form BBC World) on SKY Digtal

No, they put on CNBC Europe... Bloomberg is only available on NTL digital...

As it turned out they had a rather major argument with Eurosport over its carrige fees, and it won't be back any time soon....

When I dialed 206 on my digibox tonight I thought News 24 had actually replaced World. Only later did I find World had moved to 219...
