Well, I've just checked who's on next weekend like I always do, and noticed two things:
1) Gwenan Edwards is back presenting a new programme at 2045, called 'Gate 24', which is a new travel programme for News 24! I wonder if it will have a variation of the theme?
2) Here's the presenters presenting in the evening:
1900 - Mike Embley and Anna Jones
2000 - Mike Embley and Anna Jones
2100 - Chris Lowe and Mike Embley
2200 - Chris Lowe and Mike Embley
2300 - Chris Lowe and Mike Embley
0000 - Deborah MacKenzie
Surely this isn't right? They got it wrong this morning - they said that Paul Welsh was presenting Breakfast 24 but Asad Ahmad presented!

Slightly off topic Sian Williams and Eve Pollard were at 'loggerheads' (slight exaggeration) on the pronunciation of gerbils in the newspaper review on Weekend24. I can confirm Sian was right - it is pronounced as ''dze:bil'
And Darren Jordon is in Jamaica next week, on HOLIDAY on BBC 1.
Gate 24 has been on the cards for ages now, annouced a month or so ago.
Can't wait, yet another variation of the BBC News theme to look forward to, oh yeah, can it get any better?
Bin these silly themes BBC, they may sound modern but they also sounds stupid on a news programme.

Took me a second to get Gate 24!
I know Paul Welsh was in the Balkands yesterday with reaction to the Slobba arrest. Probably a last minute thing
Wasn't that Paul Wood, who covering the extradition of Milosevic?
SN
Steve Naylor
Paul Welsh was in Kosovo and reported on the Six about the reaction of the victims of Milosevic's alleged war crimes to his arrest.

Now I know!! Thanks.

I'm sure the BBC was using the license fee effectively by probably having so many correspondents in the region you wouldn't know. I bet during, say the US elections, even the Beeb didn't know how many they had in the States!

Yeah, they must have so many people in the Balkans - Macedonia, Belgrade, Kosovo! And yet when Milosevic was arrested they didn't seem to have any top correspondents in Belgrade - Ben Brown only arrived in time for the Ten!

Darren Jordan on the Holiday programme -- excuse me, but, erm, why exactly ? He is SO wooden it's scarey....
The BBC never learn do they!
Get the presenters paired up right BBC!
They really could learn something from Sky on this, and I know a lot of you will brush that off as a typical thing for me to say but Sky have the presenter partnerships down to a fine art.
Darren Jordan is ok but not at all suited to a Breakfast programme, which is essentially laid back and more relaxed than regular programmes.
Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams on Breakfast.
I like Sophie Raworth and thing she should be doing the 6
Six should be Huw and Sophie.
The 1 should be Fiona Bruce, as she is more suited to a daytime programme.
The 9 should be the same as it is now really.
They haven't got the presenters right on News 24 either, and I still do'nt understand whether or not they have a regular presenter schedule on News 24 or not.
AFAIK it goes something along the lines of
Morning: Chris Eakin and Joanna Gosling
Afternoon: Bill Turnbull and Val. Sanderson
Evening: Matthew Amroliwala and Jane Hill
Night: Gavin Esler and Carrie Gracie.
Yet I that always seems to change about.
Jane Hill is very good, especially with interviews but she isn't great for the evening programme IMO, she should be with Bill Turnbull on the afternoon slot and the move Val to the evening with Gavin Esler.
Amroliwala should go on the night slot as he is more suited to rounding up the news, not breaking it.
I just wish they would sort it out, then they can inject some personality into the channel.

I'm not keen on Darren Jordan, he seems like a younger version of Peter Sissons - only black, and not as rich!
