The countdown has had some bizarre reworking of the music, which seems to be little more than whacking the bass up.
ok i was wrong, there are new titles. and don't they look crap. I see they've ditched the BBC DOG style and gone for a new graphic in the bottom left, that does like nice.
Ooh and we've got Sky News style stupid oversized lettering - and the actual updating and changing information is in a small font.
And am I seeing mirrors fitted to the set? An effect to make it look bigger than it really is?
And I see they actually are using orange and black graphics on a red and white set.
Initial impressions, it's different, and News 24 did need a refresh, so any new look is welcome. But is this the right new look? The set feels even smaller than it did before, and rather than try and break away from Sky, they have just copied their aston style and approach of having a presenter standing up in front of a screen (as someone said though, that solitary plasma hardly compares to the videowall).
These astons I really don't like. They stick the headlines in huge lettering, but anything which actually does update and you will have a greater requirement to see is in even smaller lettering than before.
Coming back to my earlier question, is this the right new look for News 24? No, I don't think so. I'm sure it'll grow on me, but it hasn't blown me out of the water, and I don't see anything inherantly better than this look than the last one, and I certainly don't see any evidence of the channel 'going in new directions and not following Sky News'. It's just the same old News 24 with a new set and graphics.
Before anyone jumps down my throat and says that the new look is 10 minutes old, isn't the point of the relaunched News 24 that you could dip into it for a quick fix on the headlines and wouldn't have to watch it for hours on end any more? Why then is it being presented in an identical style as it was with the previous look?

Well, crickey. It's the same, but different.
It looks amazingly weird - not sure about the massive story title on the aston, but they've gone for it on the animations. Nice and smart - but I'm laughing so much...all those that moaned about Sky's 8 word aston...meet the News 24 5 word aston.

World's studio looks unchanged. They've got a countdown based on the opening titles (big globe, no live action shots). Their DOG is similar to News 24's, but has bbcnews.com instead of a clock.
Their location strap is along the bottom (right aligned, but a strip which matches the bbcnews strip) instead of at the top, next to the LIVE dog.
First impressions: the opaque DOG is a bit imposing, and would perhaps be nicer if it was translucent, say, when there weren't any astons on, but so far, it looks quite nice really.

First impressions :-
The countdown is good.. music sounds a bit more World-ish.
Like the DOG (can't believe I said that) because they've combined the station name/clock as per ITV News
"Victory Parade" on the opening title - Hmmmm......
"Victory Parade" on the aston - Too large ?....
