I was watching the news multiscreen on Freeview earlier and there was a live feed from NASA. The feed all of a sudden cut to some yellow caption with the EBU logo on it, and some kind of running order.
There was also some classical music playing in the background and some screechy modem noises every few seconds or so. It soon cut to the BBC News 24 titles which were looped round twice.
What is this yellow menu with an EBU logo on it? What is it for? And what's with the classical music and screechy modem noises every few seconds?
Not strictly related with the relaunch, but about it is about News 24...
Like any of the previous 3 pages was!

Aside from doing a song contest, the EBU provides a feeds service to member broadcasters. The BBC were obviously getting the NASA conference from this feed, which is used by the EBU members all across Europe and, I suppose, the world. I would reckon that the BBC shoved this feed on the interactive thing and it was still up there when the NASA conference was taken off the feed by the EBU. The running order would show the receiving broadcasters what was coming up. The screeches and classical music are not unusual for such feeds, they show the receiving broadcasters that sound is being received as well as vision.
In fact, seeing as this is the News 24 thread after all and I'm here anyway, a quick question...
World Business Report is now on News 24, which is proudly displaying a BBC World TOG. I thought it was the case that World had to obscure the News 24 one, not the other way around? If so, why is World showing?

I don't think that's quite right... I've seen the edges of the WORLD tower spinning around behind the N24 one on many occasions.

Don't get personal. (Joke).
Fair enough then. I thought it was the other way round - I thought World's TOG got superimposed over the top of News 24, and you could see the animation underneath? Unless it's which ever studio is being used - WBR would be World default, for instance.
And it looks to me like the straps are going over the TOG.
